Well according to the latest NPD data some PS3 games have higher attach rate then the ones releasing on the Xbox 360!

  • PS3 Posts Strong Sales; PS3 Software Sales Up 92 Percent Year-Over-Year
  • 643,000 units of the popular Madden sports title were sold for PS3 alone, a 33% higher attach rate than Xbox 360 and representing an increase of 90% year-over-year when compared to Madden NFL 08 sales for PS3 in August 2007.
  • Following its launch on July 29, more than 263K copies of the weapon-based fighting game Soulcalibur IV were sold for PS3 in July and August, a 38% higher attach rate than Xbox 360.

The attach rate is going up for the PS3 but games are still selling more on the 360. Though i'm sure they'll start levelling off when more PS3's are sold.

once that happens micrsoft might have to buy some first party because third parties are going to start turning down microsoft buying exclusive method. if this happens the ps 3 is going to have twice as many exclusive games than the 360.

I think piracy is an issue on the 360 and not onthe PS3, so the 360 is losing sales there, which is good for the PS3. On the other hand absolute numbers > realtive ones, so for now devs are making more money on their 360 games than on their PS3 games, and that's not good for PS3.

I think PS3 is bound to outsell the 360 eventually anyway though. When that happens game sales will be better on PS3 if this trend continues, even when the number of console sold is about equal.

That attach rate is probably because alot of the installed base for X360 is just people getting counted twice or more times. I mean I can't believe this happens but a LOT of X360 owners just go buy a new machine when theirs break. Or they upgrade to the Elite.

Athough this gives you a higher installed base you start to see where it hurts.....that being the attach rate suffers.

The whole "PS3 owners don't buy games" crap has been a myth for a very long time now. I've bought 12 games in 11 months not including PSN games.

So a lot of 360 owners would rather spend $200-$400 instead of waiting 3 weeks for their console to be repaired? Somehow, SOMEHOW, I'm not sure how but somehow I do not believe that one.

You say that like I'm making it up....people actually POST that crap, that they are buying a new one because they were tired of getting refurbs. Or they just thought that the Elite was much better (at the time they thought it wouldn't get RRoD).

It happens and I'm sure it's effecdting the number.

WOW, Lemmings get offended easily, All the TC was pointing out is that games sell well on the PS3. Yes, most multiplats sell more actual units on the 360, the attach rate is getting higher on some multiplats on the PS3. When the PS3 overtakes the 360 in WW sales, PS3 multiplats will probably start selling more

Well, in the three markets I am directly attached to(as in ones I've worked in) I've NEVER seen someone actually do that. The only people I have seen ALMOSt do that is those who did not know about the 3 year warranty. Yeah, i'm sure some people do it, I'm sure its AFFECTING the numbers.. But then again, let me take a jab at Sony.. I'm sure people wentout and bought a second or third ps2 when Sony told them that THEY broke their Ps2 and they would have to pay to fix it.

Higher attach rate but Madden NFL 09 Still sold more on 360 then ps3 the 360 version will be the first to hit a 1 million sale mark.

Gamerankings shows that 360 madden has 85.8 and ps3 86.0 a difference of .2points which can be accounted by the fact that the 360 version has 39 reviews or so, and the ps3 version has 25 reviews are so.
*just throwing out some information to every one out there*

I dont play sports games so i really shouldn't have any thing invested in this, But surfice to say attach rates mean nothing againest total sales.

P.S: to the person saying lemmings are sensitive, dont act like this post is not a challegen to lemmings you know it is, Renegade used to be one of the most vehment and voiced cows posting consistant threads about sony dominance now shihanouk or whatever his name has taken that title but it still shows that he posted this specifically to show that 2 multiplatform titles had a higher attach rate on the ps3.

Sony has a lot of internal companies to make games. All MS has now is Rare, Lionhead and Turn 10. They don't have much of a choice.

Microsoft could buy more. I mean a company that drops $50 million on exclusive content seems able to buy some studios to add to it's roster.

Its rubbish because you assume the 360 only has games because MS buy them, its a pure fanboy mentality thats completely without merit.

The reasons 360 gets multiplats are quite simple, it has a large userbase, atm it has the highest attach rate and its the easiest platform to develop on between it and the PS3.

They decided to make PS3 the lead platform in some games like Burnout Paradise and soon to be Mirrors Edge. In other games they didn't make the PS3 version be watered down compared to the 360 version.

Madden is a game where the majority of its fanbase is in NA. Just like the 360, so its no surprise this kind of game sells more then the PS3 version. However its still pretty close compared to the fanbase size, the 360 has 5 million more consoles out there then the PS3 and the PS3 was only 370K shorter then the 360s version

SC 4 However was a different deal. The PS3 version was only 110K shy of the 360s numbers. The PS3 owners dont buy games myth has been dead for a while. And depending on the title and where it appeals too will depend on how close to or how far apart the PS3 numbers are from the 360s.

[QUOTE="kage_53"]Sony has a lot of internal companies to make games. All MS has now is Rare, Lionhead and Turn 10. They don't have much of a choice.Jade_Monkey

Microsoft could buy more. I mean a company that drops $50 million on exclusive content seems able to buy some studios to add to it's roster.

It seems to me they don't care. They got rid of Bizzare Creations, they are shutting down Ensemble and they let Bungie be independant.

Thats better and no i'm sure they've used money to secure titles in the past as i'm sure Sony have also.

The_Game21x

See that's the thing: as far as public deals I know of Sony seems to be skimping on the bribes because Microsoft is buying a lot more IMO.

Aside from the $50 million loan MS gave Rockstar for the GTA IV DLC and how ever much they paid for the exclusive Fallout 3 DLC, what have they bought?

final fantsy and if you don't believe it then think about it harder. they had to considering how far along they are on the ps 3 and not have even touch the 360 version but yet there coming out on the same day.

rock band 2 coming out on the 360 first and there are alot of comercials on the tv that saying first on the 360.

star ocean 4 the one of the most sold jrpg but yet it is exclusivly on a machine that sells like crap there.

just because microsoft make sure no one says nothing they should know were not dumb we can see what really is happening here.

alan wake first anounst on the ps 3 now it is a 360 exclusive.

micrsoft makes billion a year just for the 50 dallors a year on xbox live the money is going somewere and everytime you here a third party going exclusive to the 360 it is because it was paid for.

[QUOTE="NielsNL"]

EA made more money on the PS3 than on any other platform since the start of 2008.

That surprises me. I was under the impression that 360 games sold more untis at a similar price level. How is this possible then? Maybe because of lower dev costs since they port games to the PS3 or something?

They decided to make PS3 the lead platform in some games like Burnout Paradise and soon to be Mirrors Edge. In other games they didn't make the PS3 version be watered down compared to the 360 version.

I was thinking more of the EA Sports games, but those are also EA games of course. Butstill I'm wondering how it's possible that the PS3 made them more money than the 360. Oh well..

Nintendo will always be there I agree with, but them just being there doesn't make them special. Their console is home to some of the worst games this gen.

Just as I expected.

All speculation and assumptions and not a fact in the bunch... Rock Band 2 is probably the only thing you could actually use in this argument.

higher attach rate can just mean fewer consoles as well you know?

the question is which of the multiplat sells more Madden? the answer has been 360 so far.

nin is not no were nere what it use to be.

i guess your one of those that buys games on it that has the name mario, zelda, metriod. but yet we have new ip this gen brain age yes. were is my actraiser, blaster master, ect.

nin has alot of money stop sitting on this money and buy some liceance fees to get thses games back to the nin system. im sure the creators of actraiser, blaster master type games would sell the rites to nin considering they were on there system. no instead they make pokeman this and that nindogs, brainage ect.

nin used to be great when they were 70% hardcore and 30% casual type games. know it is 10% harcore games and 90% casual lets party games.

i want my old snes days back from nin. i mean come-on metriod a fps know instead of platform. zelda just be getting older still great, mario needs to ne in the un-emplyed line, metrind needs to go back to the roots again.

we need more nin magic back.

you can say that about PC, 360, and ps3 as well
