C'mon guys. Let's not kill TC's buzz.No its not :| Maybe in NA but certainly not in the rest of the world.
ActicEdge
TC provided only US sales, not global. It's an obvious troll also, because he didn't specify the topic title(though that is arguable) and isn't actually trying to run a discussion (i.e. just makes people angry and incites flame; being also a very low-level, with a strange name... ironic lol).
There is no doubt that the console had it's sales decline because of the price tag, however I wouldn't call the situation"soo bad that it's going to break sony". Obviously, sales will improve dramatically (slight hyperbole) if the price is right.

Damage control.
Well to be fair, that "damage control" is the full story. In your thread you didnt mention "in the US" so for things to be fair, someone needs to mention that it is indeed US only. And the reason why that's important to know is because the PS3 is currently getting closer to the original Xbox's life time sells because of other countries. Without that mentioned, one might assume the PS3's world wide sells are much lower.its officail wii is on its way to victory, ,
and ps3 sales have slowed in japan-to the one who said that , ,
wii was ahead of it , last report
It's just a matter of people not having the money to buy one. You all should be comparing the Xbox 360 elite sales figures to the PS3 because they are the same price. Alot of people opt for the 360 arcade and pro versions even though the pro is only 100 dollars less it still makes a huge difference.
Recession and BAD Economy is the US mostly. Other than that PS3 is doing fine. I thought these threads were dead, Why do you people care about numbers when you are not getting ANYHING out of it?
Myzz617
Because the PS3 is kicking the 360's ass right now in terms of games

So how much did the original Xbox sell in it's life?
whitetiger3521
Around 20+ million
The GCN sold 21 Million the Xbox sold 24-25 Million.[QUOTE="whitetiger3521"]

The GCN sold 21 Million the Xbox sold 24-25 Million.Exactly, in how many years? and the PS3 sold how much already? I don't see how it can be selling at a slower pace than the original Xbox, I see no logic in the op's thread.
OG XBOX sold 15 million units in NA, was quite a success, but unfortunately most of those people were multi system owners. Thats why software sales were never high and quickly dried up after 360 released. The XBOX only sold once it was at its lowest price-pointOuch, that's not good. To go from PS2-like sales to OG Xbox-like sales.

In the US it's selling as slow as the XBox.[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]

You know you fail to mention its the slowest selling console in the US not the world To be fair... isnt the PS3 the slowest selling console world wide?Oh noes say it isn't so. So on year 3 of it's life cycle it's about to pass if not already passedXBOX,GC lifetime sales figures. Even though the US economy is crap and its still more expensive then the other two. Oh my whats going to happen if the PS3 actually has a substantial price drop?

Not really, the gap between the xbox 360 and PS3 is not that big even tho the 360 did have a year head start, now if we talk about the wii well that's a selling beast of a console over taking a console that had a year head start.
Sales attract publishers, who team up with developers to bring games. Take the Gamecube and Dreamcast, for example. I don't think anyone would deny that they were great systems, but since they didn't sell very well they missed out on a lot of big third party games. Dreamcast got no Madden (even though NFL 2K was superior). Gamecube got no GTA. We want all of the systems to sell well so that they are supported my more publishers for longer periods of time. That's kinda bad news, but it isn't doing that bad in the rest of world. Plus it's only sales, why does it matter that much to us?

Sony is just holding off long enough for the price drop to have a massive impact on sales. I am guessing near the holidays or perhaps end of summer. The PS3 will shave $100.00 and the war will get real interesting.

In Japan definitely, but provide some figures for Europe and Australia? It's still sad to see the PS3 selling worse then the Gamecube and XBox within the same time period. Overall worldwide the PS3 is selling then those systems as a whole, but definitely not in the U.S. I don't know about the Gamecube in Japan or Europe either. Hopefully the PS3 does get that price cut in August. I'm sure Microsoft will follow suit with their own if it does happen.

The U.S. is much more important than Japan. Try again.
