Let's see what happens with this. Discord already lets you link with Xbox accounts. Will Sony make them remove that functionality? It doesn't look like voice chat integration will be part of this.

All this news tells us is that no matter what Sonys fanboys want you to believe, no matter all the returnal/ratchet masturbation and the "sony greatness bay-beee!!!" nonsense you see on twitter, Sony was absolutely scrambling (to some degree) behind the scenes over the past couple weeks reguarding Microsoft's reported near-acquisition of Discord.

This could have ended VERY badly for them if that marriage ended up being one huge party that Sony was not invited to. And I absolutely guarrantee you there were late night meetings at Sony over this. Again, this is proof of that. For more proof, look above in this very thread to see how excited Cows are over this.

Look, no "one" factor by itself is going to change the course of system wars, but you can be certain that Sony is breathing a sigh of relief after this.

Hope this goes way deeper than the meaningless xbox intergration, like cross platform voice chat would be good stuff

too bad Sony is so small in the PC gaming space. If they were smart enough to invest heavily in the PC space this could really open a ton of doors for them.

Once again like I always say, Sony selling off Sony Online entertainment was a big mistake. Oh well.

MS paid Discord for XBL integration. They would sue if they force them out.

That was just a made up rumor lol. If MS couldn't make Mixer a successful platform, they got no chance in Hell buying Discord.
