PlayStation has Always been the Most expensive console.. But Always Wins

The Playstation brand has always been the most expensive console. First with the PSone which launced at $199.99 i believe which was more expensive than the N64 and look how well that did.. THEN comes the PS2 which is a whopping $150.000 more than the dreamcast which is DOUBLE The price of the competition and again look how well the PS2 turned out.. Now the PS3 is more expensive than the wii and the 360 and dont expect the Price to hurt the PS3 this time around either. 

A lot of people are saying "But the PS2 was only $299.99 not $599.99" true BUT you have to realize that back in 1999/2000 $300.00 was A LOT of money and also it was even double the price of the dreamcast. Honestly the PS2 was in the same price position as the PS3 is now, sure its not the same price as the PS2 but its still the most expensive console out like the PSone and the PS2 was out.

The PS1 was $299.99 when it launched not $199.99. The N64 was suppose to be $249.99 when it launched but Nintendo dropped the price $50 to $199.99 because Sony had dropped the price of the PS1 a couple of weeks before the N64 launched.

PSP, PSX...

Just because something is expensive doens't mean it will hold value. Month after month, PS3 sales are behind both the Wii and the Xbox 360.

the psx wasn't more expensive than the n64.  the ps2 wasn't more expensive than xbox.  the ps3 is more expensive then wii and 360.

the saturn was pretty expensive in fact i recall friends buying the playstation just because it was more affordable.

Big difference though is this time by the PS3 is more than 2 consoles (wii+360 core= $550), and only $50 less than the combo of a Wii60(premium). There never has been a system the equivalent of 2 systems in terms of price.jg4xchamp

That is also not accurate...CDi/3D0/NeoGeo much? Also the NeoGeo can generally be considered somewhat of a financial success, it was the follow-ups that killed them.

I dunno about else where but in Canada, Sega Saturn cost more than PS1, original xbox cost more than PS2, PS3 is the first time a playstation console cost more than it's competitor.

The Saturn was more expensive than the PS1. But it won.

The PSP is more expensive than the DS. But it lost.

The Xbox was the same price as the PS2 at launch, until it quickly dropped it's price $100 4-5 months after the Xbox's release. But it won.
