Once again the PC is forgotten.
What really is going to hurt these hermits is that you put the Wii Online it in
Anyways, I'll have to go with XBL objectively, but personally, PSN is free and gets the job done which is all I care about.
XBL has cross game chat and...... um... erm netflix? PSN is my answer.chapnzaba
LOL, very true. I like PSN more as well. I don't get why people make it seem like XBL is so much better than PSN. The only thing XBL has is cross game chat, but who's actually gonna sit and talk to an almost complete stranger while you're playing two different games. As long as I can talk to the person I'm playing the game with, thats all that matters. If you want to talk to someone you know in real life, then grab a PHONE. Cross game chat isn't a big deal. Besides that, what else does it have over PSN? Nothing. Besides, PSN has a better text messaging system. Sure, 360 has voice messaging, but you can't hear what people are saying in those messages 80 percent of the time:? The meat and potatoes of online gaming is on PSN, besides, its free.
I've used both for a while now and Xbox Live comes out on top. It becomes very clear that Xbox Live does a much better job of connecting the player to the larger gaming community because its features are better integrated and more generally well thought out.
Game invites
Party system
Great integration with Xbox.com
Very active and accessible community staff
A steady stream of community events
Meanwhile, PSN just shoehorns its features in without much thought...the most egregious oversights being standard custom soundtracks, trophies and Home.

People who don't see why cross game chat isn't a a big deal have no experience with it. It does make a huge difference though.psn is best becuase its not limited to peer to peer . I hope to god sony does not mess psn up if they every try to make us pay for it .
Live is a bit better cause it has 3 features that psn needs. Party/cross game chat VOICE and instint invite.
the purpose of online gaming is to connect you with others to playTjeremiah1988
Sure.... back in the 90's.
I like to think we've become much more sophisticated than that. Being online is more than just being in a multiplayer match and being placed on a leaderboard.
There interoperability amongst different games, which MS gets right while Sony still trails. This comes in the form of cross-game invites and the party system. Doesn't matter what game you're playing. Heck, it doesn't even matter if you're playing a game. Watching a video, music, whatever.... you can still be fully connected to people on your friends list who can hope into a game with ease.
There's building an active community which XBL does a fantastic job of with their vocal and accessible community staff. Not to mention the steady stream of community events readily accessible on the dashboard. Meanwhile, what community events PSN has is ususally on a dev-by-dev basis and not accessible unless you launch a wholly different app (the browser) and click on yet another link to get to said events. Or, you can find those event buried somwhere in the Playstation site.
Speaking of which, there's a breadth in the online experience. XBL is more fully integrated with Xbox.com than PSN is with Playstation.com. Do we need to go through the details on this? And don't get me started on how well achievments were implemented over trophies.
The online gaming experience isn't relegated to being within a game proper. And it doesn't need to stop once you log off your console. MS gets it. Sony's still trying to grasp the concept.

Cross game invites are cool for online gaming but who talks to a friend during a movie or listening to music, so why mention that????? I dont care about half of what is put on the dashboard dealing with community updates and staff stuff. But since you mentioned things being on the dashboard such as updates, i believe ever since the 3.0 PSN update, the console starts up on this page to show you whats going on in the PSN world, just like what MS does with LIVE dashboard. Also HOME functions as the same being able to connect with friends there, joingin events to win real prizes, launch a game, etc. Its becoming more of a hub.
I for one dont even care about my gamerscore so that feature is noting to boost about. PSN has the trophies yes, but both arent a big deal. To some, yes, to me, no.

Sure you don't care. Just like lots of people don't care about all the extra programming and features available on cable/satellite TV since regular broadcast TV gets the job done, right?
But we all know one just has more to offer.
You're talking to me like Idon't have a PS3. The XMB What's New section just isn't as robust as all the new items available on the 360 dashboard. The Playstation Store icon just shows a generic promo video and a prompt to go to launch into the store. The Pulse preview video is all we get by way of feature items, unlike the 360's Event section... yes and entire section laid like cover-flow style to show you upcoming events. In short, the implementation on the 360 is deeper and broader.
It's great that you can do some of those things in Home. A shame though that it requires the launch a whole separate app to do it... Also a shame that game launching doesn't cover ALL games. Contrast that to the 360 doesn't need an app for a hub. The 360 OS is the hub.
And these don't even address the other features I mentioned.
they need to get rid of the FCs already.I voted Nintendo Wi-Fi just for lolz. I hate it, but it's the only system I have XD.

Yea, At the very least they should only use the Wii Console FC. Why do you need to re-add someone every single time you get a new game/

I dont know. I thought after the DS and the negative feedback they were getting with FCs, they would avoid it altogether. But they made it worst with the Wii. Maybe it improved, last wifi game I bought was SSBB.u only saying its better is because have to wast $ 50 for no reasonI would say Xbox LIVE cause it's like 50 times better and playstation network practically ripped off xbox live and i dont give a crap that psn is free and xbl isnt
