PlayStation: The Flop of 2016, how did it happen?

I find it curious that both games that are causing gargantuan amounts of butthurt on lems (TLG and TLOU) have acronyms starting with TL. What other acronym starts with TL? That's right: TLHBO. Coincidence? Not a chance. Thank you Sony. TLHBO.

They flopped, and you can see the reasons why in the original post. Which reason do you think led them to being the flop of 2016? Are you saying it was just one game alone, the TLG flop? If so, that would hardly be a reason for an entire console to flop.

Anyway, PS4 hardware has been a bit of a flop this year. The Slim is okay but the Pro is big and not powerful enough to do anything special with most games (and hit even the modest 30 fps target)

How come you don't just run an HDMI cord from that beast PC of yours to the TV you play games on?

I enjoy playing my Alienware Area 51 on my ASUS PG348Q, while I play my PS Pro and Xbox One S on my Vizio M70-D3 70" 4K UHD Smartcast. It's like gaming heaven at my house. Now I just need to work on my surround.

I'm just curious as to why you don't connect your PC to your TV. You'd likely be 4K native on all the things including your Steam library.

My son and I share the computer, and he is more of an avid PC gamer than I am (and does his homework on it), and it affords us to be able to play at the same time. I also have a living room (small) that is clutter free, so I don't want mouse, keyboards in my living room.

When we sell our place and move to Florida in 2018, I plan to buy a larger place. This will give me more living room space, which will allow for a ottoman that would have not only storage for a wireless keyboard and mouse, but a great top to place it on. Then I will most likely have a new PC, the latest Xbox and the latest PlayStation all hooked up. I should be able to change to an 80" 4K TV by then.

Thread title is not wrong but could be more correct. PlayStation: The Flop of This Generation, how did it happen?

While TC is obviously trolling, there is quite a bit of truth in it.

I see people defending Playstation with PSX. Which is fairly ironic because we were there last year as well, great shows, but still little to play and "greatness waits" still. We do little more then waiting for games promised 2+ years ago. The PS4 did have a few good games on it this year, mostly multiplats, but that certainly does not mean that Playstation had a good year, it means gaming had a good year, which is not the same.

Currently I think Dragonquest builders and The Last Guardian are the best games on the platform currently for this year. Good games, but slim picking for a console that sold so much, no?

I find it rather funny that Playstation points finger at Xbox, but pretty much mirrors the same exact issues.

I hope we see the reason for a PS4 soon, I am getting rather tired of waiting for said greatness, so I would certainly prefer if the games shown at PSX are in stores next year, otherwise it would have been nothing but a great commercial with no substance... again..
