I still haven't gone back to black. :o

[QUOTE="Miroku32"]Well, think about it... how can you expand Pokemon Black/White? Unlike Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl, which had very obvious spaces where they could be 'expanded,' Black/White are pretty much complete. Black and white felt very INcomplete to me, almost nothing to do at the end of the game. I think I'm doing something very wrong... what was their to do? pearl/diamond felt like their was a massive amount to do at the end. I just can't feel it with black and white... :( I'd like a remake of ruby/saphire, since ruby was my first pokemon game ever. Time sure does fly....The pokemon Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum of this Gen. I don't believe it is an sequel like the article said.

Clearly you don't play pokemon.
I used to play it. Played it til Emerald, played Diamond, never again. [QUOTE="YoshiYogurt"][QUOTE="Calvin079"]*sigh* Pokemon = COD.

Well, I can't comment on that. Last pokemon I played was Emerald. I have some friends who played Black/White but never asked them how they were. Miroku32Play them.... best Pokemon games released in ages.

That's only if you do 'competitve" type stuff. They added nature and abilities way back with Ruby/Saphire & Emerald, so that's nothing new. The triple battles I will concede on that point, but I've heard there's only what; 2-3 of them inthe entire game? So,, there's not really much difference there. How is it different if everything remains the same? :?[QUOTE="Calvin079"]
[QUOTE="Big_Pecks"]
I'm not sure what you want. The overall foundation of the game remains the same (become champion, catch all Pokemon,) but it's different in every game. New world, new Pokemon, new ways to fight. Every game offers something different.Big_Pecks

Well I'm talking about from Yellow to White/Black, I didn't know you meant purely White and Black. Anyways for some people just adding new Pokemon, abilities, natures, and minor gameplay mechanics is enough for them. If you play the game competitively those things can majorly change the game, it just depends on how you play.

I played Pokemon White all the way through and it just felt like a much needed improvement on the franchise. The whole "Pokemon" experience has become so much more streamlined and so many things that used to be such a pain in the butt are now simple and convenient. It may not be drastically different, but that's what I liked about it. They kept the franchises cla$$ic formula and just improved on it a lot.

How is it different if everything remains the same? :? Everything has been improved from the ground up? Idk what you're expecting to hear. What could they REALLY do to make Pokemon so much different without pissing off their fanbase of which 90+% love the games the way they are?[QUOTE="Calvin079"]

Like what have they improved on?scrap the 2D overhead view altogether.
and scrap the 2D plane while in battle.

Like what have they improved on? Navigating through menus and attacks is so much more smooth and streamlined, TM/HM system changed for the better with TMs lasting forever instead of depleting after 1 use and making you have to either get it again or never learn that move again, better world maps with more variety in the types of places that you explore, huge improvement to graphics, took away the ability to catch Pokemon from past-gen games until after the game where you explore special areas where you can catch tons of the old Pokemon(this makes the game feel like a breath of fresh air the first time you play it, not just using the same old Pokemon as you always have throughout the game), made huge improvements to places like the Pokemon Center which now have stuff like the PokeMart built into them which is SO much better than having them split apart(this feature alone has saved me so much time compared to past games having to go back and forth between the two), more emphasize on the Legendary Pokemon that are actually ON the box art... lol, more emphasize on dialogue and character development instead of just generic villains wanting to take over the world... Umm... I could keep going, but why don't you just play the game for yourself and decide what's improved and what's not. lol No point in going on... It seems like you've already made your mind up that it's completely identical to the old games no matter what any differences or improvements people may list to you.[QUOTE="Calvin079"]Like what have they improved on? That's the problem is that these are all minor improvements; not anything to the immediate formula has changed. Really? They actually tried that?

Yeah, they actually tried giving the villains actual BACKSTORIES for once with with actual plots and twists that change. The story itself just feels more "mature" than the older games. And just because most of these improvements seem like minor improvements to you doesn't mean they don't all come together to make the whole game a better package than in the past. It really feels like they took everything that made the old games awesome and made it way better. I wish there were more franchises like Pokemon that don't change the core game mechanics too much, and just focus on improving them and the features of the game. Why fix what isn't broken? So many people love the battle system of Pokemon. There's no reason to change it.
Also, there's a lot more new features than just the improvements I listed. For one, the online part of the game was pretty damn good and trading with and battling people online was probably the most fun I had with the game. You can hook up with random people from around the world online and show them what Pokemon you have for trade and negotiate deals right there in real time. There's also voice chat and Camera chat(if you're using a DSi) when you're trading with people you know. There's also new different types of battles like Triple Battles and Rotation Battles, changing from season to season which completely changes the look of the world you're in and can change what kind of Pokemon you can find, there's random shaking grass and whirlpools where you can find extremely rare Pokemon, there's even a brand new exclusive feature called Dream World which is a website where you can find rare items and Pokemon and have your own house and play games with other players and earn points that can earn you new powers(such as lowering the cost at Pokemon marts or increasing the rate of which your Pokemon earn Experience Points), and all of this, including the Pokemon you catch and the powers you earn, can be synced right to your actual Black or White game.
Sure, they didn't go for DRASTIC change, but why would they? I'm telling you, just play it for yourself and it will be hard to ignore the improvements that they've made to the original formula. They're just really good games.
This should be interesting and awesome. I wonder how the game will play with 3D effect and what will the enviroments looks like.

How were they the worst? Black and white seemed very bad after diamond/pearl, felt like a rehash of it. We already had diamond/pearl and heartgold/soulsilver on the DS. Diamond and pearl felt extremely fresh when it came out.It had tons to do after beating the elite four and lots of Ds features. Black and white feels good, but it has little content IMO and almost nothing to do at the end and lacks many of the innovations that made diamond/pearl so good to me . Black and white should have been 3ds launch titles, making good use of the online and graphical capabilities. It would have boosted 3ds sales a ton and made B/W better games.[QUOTE="Miroku32"]Well, think about it... how can you expand Pokemon Black/White? Kanto Champion Theme on the OST ;)
Is this officially the most milked franchise of all time yet? Every game is exactly the same as the last (relativly speaking), on a serious note though, does anyone over the age of 25 actually still play these games?
grimhope
It doesn't matter wether we are milked or not. We at least enjoy the game so we buy it again, go try your change the formula sh!t on another game and ruin that franchise. Only thing change ever does is ruin something that's already good. They know they got pokemon in the bag the way they have it so instead of changing it they do little things here and there to improve it.
