After many years, one of the most praised Pokemon spinoffs is finally getting a new game.
And a side note, continuing the dumb titling of calling it "New X".
Still, can't believe a new Snap is coming out myself.
For reference, this is the original:

Unironically cool. Been telling that Nintendo needs to do another one of these since the WiiU came out. Had a lot of fun with this on the N64.
I was about to make this thread but here we are.
Wow! A new Pokemon Snap!? Never thought I hear that name ever again, look really great! I can't wait to get this new Snap and the first Pokemon Snap on N64 was surprisingly addictive, I kept replaying it after school lol.
Some might feel disappointed its still on rails, but I'm glad it is though. I feel like on-rails is better for a game like this. It forces you to stay prepared, otherwise, you could just pull over and take your time taking whatever photos you want. Plus taking photos while being forcefully on the move was part of the challenge/experience.
Open exploration just doesn't work for Snap, glad they're sticking to on-rails. Anyhow, super hype and a day one purchase😄
Finally. I remember playing the shit out of the first one with my little bro since it was the first 3D pokemon.
Is this a free to play game or the real deal?
Seems to be confirmed on Switch so I'd wager it's the real deal. Now if this was on phones then most likely F2P.
Very cool. I never played the N64 game but it seems to be something that is quite fondly remembered. I may or may not get this myself but I’m glad that people who really enjoyed the previous game are now getting this new one.
@Archangel3371: Pokemon Snap was a very cool game back in the day, albeit being a rather short game. What I can hope out of a sequel is a much more fleshed-out game. The fact there's hundreds and hundreds of newer Pokemon since the N64 release, there are tons of recourses of Pokemon they can use to make a bigger game now.
Pokemon Snap was an on-rails experience where you go through environments taking pictures of as many Pokemon as you can before you get to the end of a course. You get points based on your photography skills and how well you captured a Pokemon.
The challenge comes with not every Pokemon you encounter makes for a flattering picture, so there were some puzzle elements you had to interact and get Pokemon to move into photogenic positions. Some Pokemon are completely hidden unless you perform interactions to get them to come out from hiding.
I can expect them to expand upon this concept. It was definitely fun when I was a kid.
The first game was a bit short ... i enjoyed it for what it was ... but i thought it was more of a rental game, it had some really cool secrets and it was very fun, at least for a while.
I hope this game is a lot bigger with tons, and i mean tons of Pokemon to discover, if this is yet another 6 hour game it will be very dissapointing.
Played the original on N64. Shallow game.
That's an understatement. It was pretty much an elaborate minigame stretched out to a "full" length game.
This is not even a video game. Candy Crush and Angry Birds are more complex than this.
Ehh, the original had some depth to it if you were a completionist.
It's not just taking photos of Pokemon. You had to manipulate them with objects to set up high-scoring shots. You had to find clever ways to evolve them for higher scores. There were also hidden paths (I think?) that you could only access by interacting with the world in different ways.
You could've gotten a Pokemon mmo or at least a proper rpg, but instead you get this. Nintendo priorities btw.
I don't want to play an onrails game where you take pictures of Pokémon.
There's around 100 other Nintendo properties I'd like to see new shit from over fucking Pokémon Snap.
As I pointed out above, on-rails is needed and it wouldn't work on-foot.
I really hope this 60$ lack of creativity n64 esque game gets horrible reviews. I know it will sell because pokemon sadly.
I was going to make a topic bashing this game and how Nintendo rips off the consumer while Xbox gives consumers options and help.
But I figured a lot of people were salty I made too many topics as a new user so I bite my pride and bumped this.
These kind of games should be f2p and available on smartphones. $60 to ride on rails and press a button to take pictures 🤣
Nice gameplay
