I have yet to play MH3 on Wii all the way through but Pokemon is absolutley brilliant so I will say Pokemon.
Both could learn a bit from each other. Agree both are Monster seeking games, but have different gameplay. Both of these are monster hunting franchises, and both of them move a massive amount of units of their respective systems (although Pokemon's appeal is global, and Monster Hunter's is limited to Japan). Both of these are rather good games (although critical reception again puts Pokemon ahead).
Which of these two is your favorite? Which one do you like more? Monster Hunter? Or Pokemon?

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="IronBass"]Pokemon, because of the charm of the universe and the simple but addictive combat system. Although I wouldn't mind a darker Pokemon game. With that said, I've never felt the MH series has lived to its full potential. There are always certain design choiced/clunky mechanics that hold it back.siLVURcrossHave you played Monster Hunter Tri? Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is better. This is subjective, but true from Coolyfetts point of view.
Pokemon. Though maybe it's not fair to judge this solely on my only experience with MH: Freedom 2, I just can't stand the controls in that game.
Pokemone games are better (and I love pokemone more then MH) but I find Monster Hunter to be more entertaining in the sense that your physical skill makes a battle rewarding. In pokemon te rewarding part is winning after putting together a great team and strategy. The grind in both these games need to calm the hell down though. Way too much grinding for parts in MH. Way too much time sunk into IVs pokemon (though to its benefit its getting better with each iteration). Both these games need to find a better means of doing important tasks because its stupid that without the internet you can't figure lots of important pokemon things and in MH its less fun by yourself and stupidly complicated.
Clearly, the response from this topic is going to be biased by the fact such a large amount of Monster Hunter's consumer base is centred in Japan. I have yet to ever play a Monster Hunter game, so I don't really have a valid opinion on this. However, even if they are "monster hunting" games in a sense, they are extremely different games (referring to trainer RPGs for Pokemon), so you can't really analyze them like they share the same genre.MudkipMaster30
Monster Hunter is growing in popularity in the west. It will never be pokemon but it absolutely can get big.

Monster Hunter could be huge if Capcom handled it right. Sadly, they're just messing it up in the west. For instance, where is Monster Hunter Portable 3?[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="MudkipMaster30"]Clearly, the response from this topic is going to be biased by the fact such a large amount of Monster Hunter's consumer base is centred in Japan. I highly doubt that's the case. Plus, remember, Sony is AGAINST ports with zero enhancements. Ah, yes, the Nintendo Rule. I guess it can be applied to Capcom too: 'If something makes too much sense, DON'T DO IT.'[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="MudkipMaster30"]Clearly, the response from this topic is going to be biased by the fact such a large amount of Monster Hunter's consumer base is centred in Japan. They'll never develop it for the PS3 or Xbox. Like Pokemon, the development model for the franchise always seems to favor the cheapest option out there. I'd say the 3DS has a higher chance of seeing Monster Hunter than the PS360 do.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] Monster Hunter could be huge if Capcom handled it right. Because again, Sony won't accept a late port with minimal enhancements. They need a proper upressed port that takes full advantage of the system's capabilities before they'll accept it onto the system. It would simply cost too much, and unless the cost of either PS3 or Xbox 360 development goes down, it's simply not likely.[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] They'll never develop it for the PS3 or Xbox. Well, maybe they'll do it. I hope they do it. i still think Capcom could make the series so much bigger, but they don't seem to want to. Would porting it to 360 make sense though? It won't sell on the 360 in Japan, and that's the biggest audience, after all...[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] Because again, Sony won't accept a late port with minimal enhancements. Makes sense, I suppose. How much did Tri sell outside of Japan?Or they could relase it on psn. hell, isn't there an HD port of MHp3 coming to the ps3? Yeah, it has like a ton of enhancements.
