no i dont need blood and guts to make a game more entertaining. I play a lot of games with gore in them but i can play any game gore or not and still have just as much fun.

No. I don't mind it when it fits well with the overall tone and ambience, but games where the blood level is blatantly set to appeal to teens who think they're "cool" for playing "badass" games just annoy me.
Boogie_J
Gears, NMH, and Madworld come to mind
Actually, it makes me less likely to buy such a game - as I know the rest is likely to be immature too.
Very few games, IMO, does it belong in to any real degree.
Blood and gore makes a kill more satisfying.I don't need it to enjoy a game but it does make the game more immersive and realistic.
The fact than anyone has actually answered "yes" to this question has made me lose quite a bit of hope for humanity in general.
Sometimes it helps with the game if it carries weight to the theme and sometimes its just ridiculous. I can go with or without it really, but there are times when it helps (certain horror titles come to mind) and other times when it isn't necessary (do people really turn into chunks of flesh when getting hit with a shotgun?).
The fact that Dark Knight was able to pull of what it did, without barely showing any blood, shows that its not entirely necessary, but at the same time If I shoot or slash someone in a game I'd like to see some blood :Pnavstar29
Imagine the joker slashing somebody, blood sprays up into his face. Batman punching somebody then looking at the blood on his hands with guilt.
Tell me that would have not done anything for the characters or the film in general. Same goes for video games. Gore can be an improvement.
Even if you do gore for the sake of gore. Video games are escapism, and if laughing at little man on screen blow up in pieces makes you laugh then so be it. It is not "sick". The player knows it's not real, the humor comes from the ridiculousness of it.
789shadow : "Absolutely not. Games don'tneedgore, and if you think they do, you have serious problems."
I don't think thats true at all... Unless you're talking about ALL games, then no, they don't ALL need gore. obviously
