In Donkey Kong Mario was a carpenter.

Between those two, mario by a long shot. But there are other franchises that beat those two. Like megaman for example.

Still, no matter how much mario is hoared out to games that are not platformers, he still retains the same level of quality control.

Imagine buying a Mario game and he's not in it. Welcome to FF where you expect Cloud for 8 and get squal and where the hell did sephiroth go. oh welcome to FF9 remember the cool FF games before us where it was really cool and mature? well no more of that. if your a FF fan it kinda sucks everytime a new FF comes out i grasp and hope it's a style you like this time. the fact they still call it FF and claim it's a franchise is 100% milkage. Why would you expect Cloud to be in VIII? He wasn't in the first 6 games, so why would he be in the 8th?

It's Final Fantasy because each games shares certain concepts and ideas. It's a franchise, just one that gives you an entirely new story and universe each time.

I agree.  Madden 08 will be Madden 07 with an updated roster.  They may add a different way to catch the ball this year, update the rosters, and slap a Madden 08 cover on the same game.  It's just way for EA to steal another $60 bucks from everyone that buys it.  As crappy as NBA Live is, at least you can give that team credit for trying to change.

I have to say Mario, just because there are so many different genre titles sporting our fav Italian Plumber. Not that they aren't necessarily good games.... but he's everywhere!

So as a huge Mario fan, I'd still have to say Mario!  But I'm okay with it, since I love it!
