Microsoft is only smart for ramping up their advertising to market a good product that people are actually aware of. Unlike Sony, who might have a good product, but people aren't aware of it at all. My point, Char. My point exactly. Sony could have some really good things on their hands of they advertised their goddamn gaming products like they used to. I think the problem with Sony now is- and I want to know what you think about this- is that they advertise only to their existing fanbase. I mean, all their products are made and marketed only to their hardcore fanbase that exists on the forums. Think about the Kevin Butler campaign. The PS Vita ads. Everything they do now, is aimed squarely at people who are already Playstation owners or fans. You don't even need a marketing degree to understand why they're doing it wrong.

I defiantly agree with you, it's the wrong way to do it. The hardcore fanbase and fourm-dwellers are the last people you need to market to. We're the minority who sit and dissect things like this and buy a new console on day 1 should it please us.
We're already buying the console, but Sony doesn't seem to understand that. I was already buying the vita, support cross buy, and knew about the next exclusive well before it launched. Advertising free online alone would score some sales for them.

To show his unrequited love to Nintendo. OT: Used to own both, the xbox360 got RROD after the guarantee expired. I figured I got the most juice out of it so I don't feel like buying it again (especially at this stage with all the Kinect crap).
Only PS3 right now. Couldn't find a reason to get a 360 apart from halo and gears. Plus the paid online option puts me off. And why didn't u put a both option???? Somehow I'm surprised that according to the poll there are more PS3 owners than 360 ones on the forum. :P

I own a broken PS3 (YLOD last night, I thought that was just made up by Lem's because of RROD, I can't believe it Tale of Grace F is stuck in there and it's BC compatible with my PS2 game's, I'm really pissed) & Xbox360
I have a PS3 and Wii. Best Console combination. PS3 gives me free online, excellent multiplats, and a few good exclusives. Wii gives me the best 1st party exclusives of the generation.

same thing could be said about the majority of ps3 sales. most people only bought it because playstation is a big name
I won't lie. I bought the PS3 because I assumed it was going to be as good as the PS1/PS2.
exactly the same reason why i wanted one. ps2 was awesome and i loved mgs, sadly both the ps3 and mgs were a major disappointment to me.
