(Poll) Super Mario Galaxy? 9.0 or 9.5?

There seems to be a lot of variety to the gameplay. One might even say the game has a bit of an identity crisis. "A" score confirmed?

Joking, BTW. SMG looks great, im not big in to Mario games but this sure looks like AAA potential.

Alex is the funniest guy of the Gamespot staff. Did you saw the "Zombie or Not" video, Alex was hilarious!

But in the end it doesn't matter who reviews it, because I don't believe anyone would give it less than a 9.0!

Yes, but SMG is bigger than R&C. If they wanted to flop it they would just give it slightly below what it is hyped (8.5) and then write a horrible review about it. But they wouldn't give it a 7.5

Without sounding like im in love with Shigsy, he makes games at a quality that most designers couldnt achieve even if they had infinite time and resources.

I personally expect a 9.0 for Super Mario Galaxy from Gamespot. A 9.5 or a 10.0, while even better, would make me lose one of my bets.

Lower than 9.0 and I'll go slightly insane for the next two weeks following SMG's release.

You know, it's not like the editors just wake up one day and say "I think I'm gonna make this game AAA, let's go make a launch center guys!" -_-

I hope it does get a AAA score though, but if it does I doubt it will be more than 9.0. That's just how Gamespot likes to do things.

Seriously, anyone who is betting that this game is going to get less than AAA is just not good at gambling, or hasn't been paying attention to previews. It looks fantastic.

I'd even be surprised if it got a 9.0 (rather than a 9.5.)

If AAA wins, AA team has to create a new thread in SW stating why SMG is so great. If AA wins, AAA teams creates thread stating why SMG sucks. each member of the losing team writes a post in the created thread. And winning team gets to write posts in the thread bragging why theyre right. Thread should be created by KCPP2B (just so its started by the bookie, he wont make any remarks either way, he can introduce the bet if he wants) and have a specific name, then the team members will make their post on the game. If there is a tie, then both sides must praise their respective game in the same thread.

SMG being bigger then R&C is no excuse. A game should get rated on the quality of the game, not the popularity.

I'm voting a 9.5. After reading how most reviewers agree that this game is the next Mario 64 and how this game sets a new bar for platformers, I can see this being my favorite game ever.

And color me surprised: In another thread, some of the screen shots I saw actually looked on par with some 360/PS3 titles (not Gun/last gen ports). Amazing. [This is coming from somebody who snorted whenever somebody praised Mario Galaxy's graphics as '360/PS3 quality'.]

I agree. The artistic use of saturated colors is totally mindblowing!

And I can see me having as much fun playing Galaxy as I had playing Mario 64 back in 1996/97.

Depends, how many different elements of gameplay does it have? If its any more than 6 or 7 then heads will explode and it will get 7.0 on GS :p

This game is dancing with the 8.5 and 9.0.

I think Super Mario popularity is starting fade. Not much news surrounding this game's Japan launch, I don't see the hype here in North America either.

Zelda got a ( 8.9 ) for the Gamecube version although it was a little bit worse than the Wii version, so it's almost certain both versions would've got an ( 9.0 ) with in the "New Rating System".

And I'm more excited over Galaxy than I was over Zelda a year ago.

So, from my point of view, there is no way Galaxy is going to get less than a ( 9.0 ).
