Did Microsoft own Nintendo by outselling them 527,000 to 501,000?
Or did Nintendo own Microsoft by selling only 26,000 less than the 360 during Halo 3 month, despite not having any big software releases itself?

OH!!! But that's 90% first party sales for MS! Third parties better make a conference to complain about it!This is ownage

Hardware only, plz. We all know Halo 3 sold 3.3 million units. No sense comparing software sales when Halo 3 outsells all of the 360's other titles combined 3x over.
Halo 3 was able, in just 5/6 days, to push Xbox 360 up and over the Wii's sales.
If Halo 3 was released on Sept 1st, then sure, it'd be ownage for Nintendo.
But.. Sorry Reggie. Your console lost, due to a game that only had a few days on market before these numbers were taken.

Actually, Halo 3 had about 11 days before these numbers were taken. It was a 5-week month for NPD. :P
Oh please. You dont actually think this lead is permanent do you?Halo 3 was able, in just 5/6 days, to push Xbox 360 up and over the Wii's sales.

Ah, I stand corrected, but I still think it's significant that Halo 3 was released at the end of the month really.

Who said anything about it being permanent?
The 360 outsold it in the NPD numbers this month.
[QUOTE="Eltroz"]That's all Halo 3. Let's wait until MS can do that without its MAIN FLAGSHIP title. That's what the Japanese software charts look like all the time for Nintendo. This is ownage

The 360 already was beating both the PS3 and Wii combined in software sales even before Halo 3 was out.

The key word is "barely". And the 360 has a much stronger library than the Wii at this point. Wait until a few of Nintendo's first-party titles launch. ;)[QUOTE="Eltroz"]That's all Halo 3. you seemed to imply it when you said "Sorry Reggie. Your console lost". Nintendo is not sweating a sales spike for one gameIn the context of the sentence it's obvious I'm talking about losing/winning this month.
Especially when you consider that's what this whole thread is about.
And whether they're sweating it or not, they're still the ones who're owned or lost this month.

I'm not disputing that, though I don't think the 360 has the highest attach rate, and it has the most million sellers because it had a year headstart. I'm just saying how idiotic it is to throw a software pie chart on the board - in the month that Halo 3 launched and try to claim ownage, as if that's permanent. This is ownage

None of the above.
All the people who said Halo 3 would not be a system seller.
Gaara79
your right Halo 3 sold 3.3 million copys and about 300k more Xboxs then normal.
Halo sold 9% more consolse for one month...
That is you totaly discard all other games for that month and other possible reasons for a sales increase...
Congrads.

Did they really lose this month? It took microsoft's absolute biggest game, which huge hype and marketting. And then nintendo gets outsold by only 26 000 units. They were not owned, that is practically a drawIn the context of the sentence it's obvious I'm talking about losing/winning this month.

The Wii may still be selling like hotcakes, but MANY of it's owners have to agree that there isn't much to do with it. I myself own one and was begging for a reason to turn it on after about 3 weeks of inactivity. I somewhat regret buying mine now as it's really not all it's cracked up to be. I find the dated graphics, lack of quality games and no online integration to be somewhat of a snore-fest. Also playing games WITHOUT achievements now feels boring. I have no inspiration to complete a game or trying to discover all the the things a developer hid in the game.
Hopefully this will change once Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles comes out.

So my question is what happened to MP3 Nintendo's flagship title? Exactly!!! Each company can attribute well known games for an increase in sales.. And let's not forget that the software sales of the 360 has continuously owned the wii/PS3 WITHOUT HALO... What's the fanboys excuse for that one.. :|

Metroid Prime was never Nintendo's flagship. :| It's a good series, but it's never sold nearly as well as Smash Bros, Zelda, or Mario.
[QUOTE="Bromz"][QUOTE="Erkidu"]I'm going with option B. It's hilarious that the 360 could barely scrape over the top of the Wii with it's MAIN FLAGSHIP title releasing. This is magnified by the fact that the Wii had no major software releases at all.ErkiduWii is not a software driven console, I doubt the release of Mario Galaxy will boost it as much as Halo as boosted 360's sale. The Wii has had a higher software attach rate than both the 360 and PS3 since it launched. :|
Um. No it doesn't?
The 360 far and away has the best software attatch rate this gen.

Microsofts biggest game that was only out for a few days before these numbers were taken.
Hence my point.
I'm saying that if Halo 3 was released on September 1st then there would be a more significant gap. As it is, the dominant Wii had it's monthly hardware sales toppled by one game that hadn't been on the market long when these numbers were taken.
Honstly who didn't see this comeing? We all knew that the 360 would get this month because of Halo 3.Hockey_Slayer
Actually, quite a bunch of cows were pre-damage controlling saying that everyone who wanted H3 already had a 360 and thus there wouldn't be a notable hardware sales increase.
IT BARELY beat Wii....and with all the 360 advertising and all the hype......just wait and see till next month when Wii is on top yet again
