Casual?

or..

Hardcore?

i do not know of a good hard core game this gen, well there was Europa Universalis III, but other then that just a bunch of poser hard core games like shooters.

I don't judge whether you are hardcore or not based on the games you have (unless, of course, all you have is lame shovelware), but if you're like "Oh, I just got that game to be cool, or my friend has it.", you are casual.

Anyone who posts on this board, has more than one platform and more than a handful of games generally falls into the "core" type of gamer. No casual would even know of this websites existence let alone be posting on this board.foxhound_fox

I think maybe that makes me a "softcore" gamer.

"casual" and "hardcore" are relative terms so who knows?

If you mean "hardcore gamer" as in the old definition (i.e. anyone who really frickin loves video games) then I definitely fall under hardcore. If you mean the new definition (i.e. someone who plays online multiplayer games almost exclusively and can't stand games that are "kiddy" or have unrealistic graphics), then that isn't me at all. I love single-player experiences with unique art-styles. I'll take Super Mario Galaxy over Call of Duty 4 anyday. I like to play games that are artistic experiences, as these are the games that truly stand the test of time. Doesn't that make me more "hardcore"(I hate that term) than the guy who spends hours fragging noobs like it's some kind of a sport?

I like both Wii Sports and Deus Ex. I think I have to be a mix.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't mean to quote.

Being hardcore doesn't mean you just play big budget games all day. The definition of hardcore is how much time you dedicate yourself into a game. You can play Halo for a few hours and you'll still be just a casual gamer while you play games like Animal Crossing for hours at a time and be hardcore. On this note, I would consider myself somewhat casual.
