LOL, most technology experts agree that 40 inches and above it is noticeable. So you sort of self owned yourself. I personally can tell the difference on about 32 inches and up.
um yeah... no experts agree its a waste and is not noticble on stuff below 50 inch. and you can notice 32 inches and above? i wish i had super man eyes. (and 20/15 are not superman eyes)
Too a few people in the thread
*walks into bestbuy and purchase an hd dvd addon for 50 bux then spends about 200 dollars to get around 30 hd dvd movies at certain online stores with deep discounts on the discontinued format....saves about 500 bux for what it would take to purchase the same movies on blu ray, and some of the movies haven't come out on blu ray yet or wont*
Yeah thats all we gotta say about people laughing about others owning hd dvd.

20/15 may not be superman eyes, but I know what I can see. You can believe me or not, whatever helps you sleep better at night. Also, if you look at the chart I posted a link to, even the EXPERTS say the same thing. I sold tv's all the time for Dell and am around them alot, so I can definately see the difference. Sorry that you can't.

To be fair though, a lot of people who say they can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p are those who compare against a crappy 1080p unit, that only advertises the resolution due it technically meeting the requirements. Then again, there are others (or a combination of others) whom just regurgitate age-old "rule of thumb" statements made from years back, without actually understanding the concepts from which they were based on.

True, one thing I have found is this. NEVER BASE YOUR JUDGMENT FROM WHAT YOU SEE AT PLACES LIKE SEARS, CIRCUIT CITY, BEST BUY..etc..
Unless they have a stand alone player playing on the tv. All the other tv's have the cables split so many times that the video quality is just crap.
US PS3 60GB Launch unit.Samsung 23" HDTV Monitor with HDMI 720p.
Xbox with component cables. (I play this more then the PS3:P)

This setup looks so familiar.

Totally. Actually, from what I understand... many stores like Best Buy will mess with the settings in order to make the better models look as bad, or worse then the cheaper models. This makes it easier for them to push out cheaper models, by creating this false impression of how much of a bargin the cheaper one is, coupled with the average person being more likely to buy cheaper.

Well my Olevia brand is considered a cheaper model TV but the picture quality is amazing so I dont really care that I dont own a Samsung or Sony that would have cost me twice the price I paid for my Olevia.
