EXAMPLE #1
Those Uncharted 3 "excusive" retail bonuses look as though they could negatively affect gameplay. Another example is that you have to pre order Twisted Metal to get AXEL? WTF?!

Wal-Mart - Callout Mod for AK-47 Allows you to "equip your AK-47 with a laser sight that enables your entire team to see the location of the opponent you are currently targeting."
Amazon.com - Carpet Bomb Kickback Allows you to "send out three grenades with a single throw to blanket your opponent – or take out a group of opponents – with multiple explosions."
These seem unfair
They're definitely going the COD direction with MP.Wal-Mart - Callout Mod for AK-47 Allows you to "equip your AK-47 with a laser sight that enables your entire team to see the location of the opponent you are currently targeting."

It is honestly killing gaming for me. At least offer it with all new copies and charge used buyers for it. Don't make me go out and spend $60-70 first day just to get something that should be there in all copies.foxhound_foxWell if you wait and buy the game when it is $20-$30 you can buy the extra stuff usually for $2 or less and still you are saving a lot of money.
TDU2: bugatti veyron supersport....nuff said it totally wrecked balance and became a game of haves and have nots.Preoder people instantly picked it and wiped the floor with a lobby.
Wow that is quite unfair...Don't worry though people will still buy CODWal-Mart - Callout Mod for AK-47 Allows you to "equip your AK-47 with a laser sight that enables your entire team to see the location of the opponent you are currently targeting."

It wouldn't be so bad if the devs/pubs/retailers would pull their heads out of their asses and simply release all pre-order bonuses to players for free after a month or so (shockingly, pre-order bonuses are significantly less effective at attracting customers after the game's been released), but yeah, it's pretty awful nowadays. If anything, it makes me less likely to buy a game.
What really bothers me about them is it's getting to a point where the pre order bonuses may actually interfer with gameplay balance. What if it comes to the point where, if you pre order, you can perhaps use a stronger weapon in a online multiplayer game? Or has that already happened?
The example the TC gave for Uncharted is a prime example of what you are talking aboutso yes it has happened. Here are 3 of the pre-order bonues. What really bothers me about them is it's getting to a point where the pre order bonuses may actually interfer with gameplay balance. What if it comes to the point where, if you pre order, you can perhaps use a stronger weapon in a online multiplayer game? Or has that already happened?

Amazon.com – Clip Size Mod for Para 9 or G-MAL
Allows you to increase the size of the bullet clip for your weapon of choice and "spend more time shooting your opponents before having to reload."
Wal-Mart - Callout Mod for AK-47
Allows you to "equip your AK-47 with a laser sight that enables your entire team to see the location of the opponent you are currently targeting."
Amazon.com - Carpet Bomb Kickback

That's what happened with BFBC2 i think and MoH.What really bothers me about them is it's getting to a point where the pre order bonuses may actually interfer with gameplay balance. Wow those could kill the balance of MP.
If they can con you into pre-ordering something it guarantees that you'll be back in their store, instead of buying your games elsewhere.I find it extremely annoying as well. Does anyoen know why retailers push so hard to get people to pre order games? I never quite understood that

Unfortunately, this looks to be the future of gaming, or at least mainstream gaming. The devs will welcome the extra cash, even if it comes at the expense of its customers.
But just wow at those preorder bonuses, as if I needed another reason to be against store exclusive preorder bonuses. I never really liked the uncharted series, but this is the final blow for me to decide that I do not want UC3.
If you add up all the pre-order money that Gamestop gets for big games, I'm sure it comes out to quite the interest free loan.I find it extremely annoying as well. Does anyoen know why retailers push so hard to get people to pre order games? I never quite understood that

[QUOTE="Ravirr"]Atlus knows how to do Collectors editions with class, hell half the time you get the soundtrack even if you don't get the collectors edition.whatever happened to cd's and art books as bonuses.

Atlus and Aksys have been doing really good with their pre order stuff.
Like any thing there are going to be abuses and bad ideas.
DLC is it all bad because some of its bad? there have been quite a few bits of dlc this genration that I simply loved the same can be said of preorder bonuses is all of it bad because some of it? Ive enjoyed quitea few bonuses.

Oh yeah definitely Gamestop was getting introuble actually because they would take pre orders and that money would be theirs it would reflect on their bottom line so they weren't telling people about the pre orders they made if they happend to forget about them *I personally had a pre order for lost planet that I completely forgot about cause I purchased it cheaper on amazon* they didn't remind me of it the next time I was in there they infact had to create rules within the company that any preorders that were old enough the consumer had to be notified of them if they wanted to cancel it and get their money back.I find it extremely annoying as well. All preorder bonuses are bad because I don't like companies trying to dictate which middle man I choose to buy their game from. Almost all DLC is just small tacked on costumes or quests that would have improved the game had it been in the original release, but is not worth buying after you have already finished the game. The only worthwhile DLC's that I can think of also had retail releases.

^This. I don't mind character skins or something like that, but once you start impacting gameplay.... yeah. Also, UC3 looks like it's going the Call of Duty route MP-wise. Awesome. Call of Duty ruins something else.It wouldn't be so bad if the devs/pubs/retailers would pull their heads out of their asses and simply release all pre-order bonuses to players for free after a month or so (shockingly, pre-order bonuses are significantly less effective at attracting customers after the game's been released), but yeah, it's pretty awful nowadays. we've listened to a lot of your feedback about the pre-order bonuses from the UNCHARTED 2 release – mostly how many of you were bummed by not being able to get some in-game content without pre-ordering at multiple retailers or waiting for it to be added to the PSN Store over a year later. Because of that feedback, we've restructured how we provide pre-order content – nearly all of our retailer exclusive bonuses grant you early access to key multiplayer Weapon Mods, Boosters and Medal Kickbacks.

The pre-order Bonuses with BFBC2 simply unlocked weapons and gadgets early, other players who did not pre-order could obtain them through normal play.

Yeah, i knew i wasn't sure about BFBC2. Oh well.Disagree. They've been ridiculous for years.McStrongfastLooks like CoD does something right. Pre-Order, get a poster.

how are they dictating who you buy from? if you are so sore about it go to target or meijer where they never get preorder bonsues. your the one dictating who you buy from when you decide hey I like that preorder bonus content. As for that some dlc is just simple tacked on stuff not all.

I am a bit confused about this (Uncharted 3), as I thought all those kickbacks were in the game. Is this just an already unlocked kickback or something? If I cannot use the 3 or 4 kickbacks that are from other stores ever, I will be mad. I hate this pre-order stuff too, but basically the stuff that has a store to store one. If it is a universal one its not too bad.
