SE probably has better cutscenes overall, but the CGI from Blizzard is unmatched IMO.

If http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFTWDJ25zdcthis trailer is any indication, Blizzard trumps over Square/Enix.

Th Wrath of the Lich King cinematic is the best CGI in the gaming industry so far imo. The Old Republic is up there as well.

The FMV where Arthas climbs Ice Crown is one of the best I've seen. Shame there are few pre-rendered cutscenes like this in the Warcraft series.

Despite all that, I gotta give SE the nod. The amount of detail they go into for their cinematics is insane. The FMVs in Dirge of Cerberus were also top notch.

Amaing the amount of detail in the trailer is crazy, but there are some crazy CGI square has done too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnE64DbnUzY Spirits Within http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jb4Ws1lPHc FF7: Crisis Core, Obvious spoilers between the ending of the game. (around 40sec the epicness begins) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAFyFCqCEW0 FF XIV But the style is very different in both games.

When I was younger, I particularly remember how the SE cutscenes made me feel connected to the game.....I never experienced this with a Blizzard cutscene, even though I played WoW for several years.

Well yeah, WoW only had the three intro CGI scenes. Play something like Warcraft III or Diablo II where they occur at key moments in the story

My vote goes to Square, simply because the amount of quality rendered-cutscenes dwarfs Blizzard's. The best rendered cutscene I've seen from Square was the invasion of Eden sequence in FFXIII, my jaw hit the floor when I saw that.

While one thing I always liked about the FF games were the cinematics I have to choose Blizzard. FF vids are pretty and all and always impressive for their time, but Blizzards cutscnese are just epic. FF has epic moments but Blizzard hasEPICcutscenes and prerenderd trailers.

Thats a tough one. I've only caught a glimpse of a little of Blizzard's work. I'm going to have to bandwagon and go with SquareEnix. Hmmm.. good poll. You have to actually be informed to answer.

In WC3 Arthas moves stiff in Human campaign cutscene and in WC they only recently got very good but they also lack the action I have seen in FFXII( cutscene champ last gen)

Have you seen Warcraft III's intro? It's clear people are split between these two companies. Blizzard should be making the Cataclysm intro in a few months. We shall see greatness once again. =D

Square is more stylized but Blizzard's has more depth. So I'm not sure what you're saying.

Even though the ending sucked, FF XIII hastwo of the most beautifully rendered scenes in thier game. The chapter 12 cutscene at the beginning set the new mark for anyone to follow and play catch up. That and FF VII: Advent Children Complete.

Square-Enix is blowingthe competition away so far, and they've said the FF Versus XIII is even better looking:shock:
