Next gen game? MercenaryMafiaIf by next gen you mean " next wave of consoles" then no. This game is strictly a pc exclusive.
[QUOTE="geraldwillkill"][QUOTE="MercenaryMafia"]Next gen game? Heil68If by next gen you mean " next wave of consoles" then no. This game is strictly a pc exclusive. When is game to be expected, roughly of course? April 2014
All these kickstarter games are going to feel like they take forever to come out since we find out about them in pre-development. SAGE_OF_FIRETo be fair, we're starting to see a few come out already, like the amazing FasterThanLight. Some of the others are coming out over the next few months or early next year, and others will have alpha- and beta-testing along the way to keep us occupied. ...but yes, this game is going to be difficult to wait for.
Looks so clean so this is officially next gen or is it just a PC exclusive.HaloPimp978PC exclusive. Also, the crazy thing is that this isn't even a big-budget, graphics intensive RPG - they're making it using decade-old techniques on a shoestring budget.

I saw that Project Eternity is slated for 2014 and kind of regret pledging. 2014 is a long way off. At that point, I will have a bachelor's degree and most likely have my career in line. I'm not even 100% sure I will still even be that into video games by then :(
Looks awesome. I was thinking it would be utilizing prerendered 2D backdrops like the olden days. Definitely a surprise.
So kickstarting is now about supporting a bunch of oldies, with tons of experience, who wants to do the same game they did over ten years ago? Sushiglutton
Yes, Kickstarter solely exists to force people into giving money for games they don't want to play. Instead, we should rely on suits/publishers who don't game to graciously bestow upon us the same games every year.
The market is just oversaturated with old-school Baldur's Gate/Fallout games. We need more MP-focused FPS/TPS on the market.
At times? You mean all the time lol. Obsidian has some great ideas, they just don't know how to get them all in a game in a working fashion. Maybe they need to hire another company to do their quality control for them because they really push the limit on what is acceptable in a full retail game, quality control wise.Looks awesome, even if it is only one screen. Good for Obsidian gettin dat cash too, awesome dev, even if their quality control is a little lacking at times.

That's why you only back projects with known talented developers working on them. Eternity has Chris Avellone, Josh Sawyer, Tim Cain, and George Ziets working on it.I wouldn't trust developers enough to finish the game in a timely manner on donations

Obsidian has a shaky history of getting games out the door in time

They don't really have traditional deadlines with a kickstarter project. This also isn't a full blown 3d game like they've been making for the past few years.[QUOTE="UnknownSniper65"]That's why you only back projects with known talented developers working on them. Eternity has Chris Avellone, Josh Sawyer, Tim Cain, and George Ziets working on it. Those guys don't have a good history of working well under time constraints. Good ideas is one thing. Good ideas delivered on a deadline are a whole new level.I wouldn't trust developers enough to finish the game in a timely manner on donations

They don't really have a deadline..
PFFFFT! Obsidian? People are still wasting money on these ass h*les? Dudes couldn't code a game properly if their life depended on it.

I'm hoping that because there is no publisher forcing deadline on them all the time that they will have the bugs in their game at a minimum. It may be wishful thinking but even though Fallout: New Vegas was a bugfest, it is one of the best RPGs this gen. I have not played their past work but many of their past projects are considered classics.

I've heard a lot of good things about New Vegas, but some of those things I've seen in reviews scare the sh*t out of me. Are there mods that correct most of the problems in the PC version? If so I might get it because Fallout 3 was pretty badass.

They don't really have a deadline..
Why not? When you have a finite amount of money, you always have a deadline. If you can't deliver your product by the time your account reaches $0, not only have you missed your deadline, you're pretty much dead. Look, I know what you mean. But I actually own a business. I even own one that does something similar to game developers, except it's for film. That $3 million Obsidian has is what they estimate they will need in order to complete the project on time. The more they're given, the more stuff they can do to still deliver the product on time. If Obsidian is smart, their stretch goals will have an element of reserve funds should they go into overtime e.g, it doesn't really cost $500,000 to create Big City 2, but perhaps only half the cost, while the rest stays in their account for a rainy day. Time, after all, is money. But my problem is not their money management skills, but their time management skills. All the games have an issue with quality control, which looks to me like they simply cannot manage their time well. Avellone said as much that he messed up with KotOR 2, but it looks like him and his team have never learned since. Please Log In to post.
