[QUOTE="hakanakumono"]read the article please.They haven't even started porting it yet. They're not even going to deal with thinking about how it is going to work outside of Japan.

Oh, so they're saying it's not "dumbed down," its just the in game graphics we're seeing.
[QUOTE="Keep-the-Faith"][QUOTE="lundy86_4"]
That would make sense if it didn't originate on the PS3

Due to the difficulties of the Cell Square had to cut corners with developement. Now that its on 360, the ease of developement has enabled FF13 to realize its full potential!
Ya.......thatll stick.
Even though it doesn't come from a legit source, anyone with a lil intelligence know that the ps3 will get dumbed down because of the 360You're absolutely correct. People with a little intelligence know that, but people with a lot of intelligence knows that is wrong.Why are so many people trying to talk like game developers?PSdual_wielder
In case you haven't noticed yet, most posters in System Wars are actually experienced game developers, hardware engineers, and expert market analysts all rolled into one.

First time I ever loled becuse of what someone said on system wars, congratulations.
Of course it's dumbed down, it's on the freakin' crap X360! Square Enix preferred the money instead of a superior game.
At least there is still hope for FFXIII Versus.
Its dumbed down to be on PS3.
Why.......cause it just is.
Keep-the-Faith
I probably shouldn't encourage you...but damn. :lol:

Even though it doesn't come from a legit source, anyone with a lil intelligence know that the ps3 will get dumbed down because of the 360 Depends what you mean by dumbed down, If it were exclusive and optimised for PS3 only, it would looks better. However, if it were exclusive for the Xbox, and optimized the the Xbox only, it would look better also. Multiplat games always go for the lowest common denominator when it comes to specifications, so neither console is pushed to it's limit. Edit: My grammar and punctuation is terrible :([QUOTE="Csalbertcs"]
Oh I see. So the Japanese version of FFXIII looks better than the American and European version of FFXIII.
lundy86_4
Nope... they are finishing the whole game on PS3 in Japan, after that, they are just localizing it to the PS3, and porting over to the 360. So all games will be the same
It was sarcasm. I don't really like the way people treat things like this. "OMG, PS3 HAZ BETTER GRAPHICS THAN 360 IN FF13!!" "OMG, 360 HAZ BETTER GRAPHICS THAN PS3 IN (insert multi-plat game here). People should just grow up. If the 360 version looked like it was ment for N64, then it would matter. But a little graphical difference isn't the end of the world.[QUOTE="WhySoSerious300"]

What do you guys think of this?
SolidTy
Maybe it was dumbed down when it went to 360, but oh well, it's Sony's fault for not selling more PS3's. Now we will never know.
I agree with this. We all know that the game is exclusive on Japan. They clearly state that it is a 360 trailer compared to the original japanese PS3 version. So the most logical explanation would be the 360 version will be technically weaker than the PS3.
When did 'dumbed down' come to mean 'worse graphics'?
Also, the differences are completely unnoticeable unless you were actively looking for them, which is pathetic.
chutup
There are some 360 owners around here that can tell the differences between the two versions of RE5 and SFIV, where the differences(to me at least) are even much less than the ones in TC's link.
But then again, it could just be that my eyes are bad from too much video games.

Except the 360 typically isn't the one with problems running multiplats. The most logical explaination is that the real game can't quite keep up with prerendered CGI.Final fantasy has been dumbed down since 7.
goblaa
The original games were much simpler, especially in terms of plot.
Well let's have a look then.
The texture quality I can believe, PS3 ram is faster than 360 memory allowing it to swap out information more often. On 360 to make up for the slower transfer rate they would have to keep more information in memory, since it is a unified amount this would eat into texture memory.
The poly count has me questioning it however, this is suggesting the 360 version has less polygons for characters than the PS3 version. It is common knowledge the 360 GPU can push more polygons than the PS3s RSX, a 360 version would not result in a poly count reduction over the PS3 version.

[QUOTE="Keep-the-Faith"]
im joking........hence the "ya, thatll stick"
But ya, PS3 the lead platform???????? Thats just wrong.
Keep-the-Faith
That's good... usually when the dev puts PS3 as lead platform the final product is almost equal. I remember reading somewhere that it's much easier to port from PS3 to 360, accounting formore equality in multiplats.
ya but still.......making PS3 lead when its also last place? Thats like making the Gamecube the priority console last gen. Sick and wrong :p
I'll assume it is the lead platform because it was originally a PS3 exclusive. Are people really *this* silly? :|Well two things wrong with this one the 360 version has not even started and the second the ps3 trailer is in 1080p the trailer that appeared on live was 720pDuckyindiana
That is something that has always bothered me when I see my brother browsing PSN, 720p games with 1080p trailers.
What's the point? It is either upscaled 720p or rendered 1080p, the first being pointless and the second being false advertising.
[QUOTE="Cedmln"]Dumped down from what?obamanian
Maybe was a bit lowered in textures and had some huge cut-backs in level size due to PS3 limited RAM and GPU, like most PS3 exlcusive linear games with the tiny levels
I thought Fable2 was very linear compared to most RPG's.[QUOTE="Duckyindiana"]Well two things wrong with this one the 360 version has not even started and the second the ps3 trailer is in 1080p the trailer that appeared on live was 720pAnnoyedDragon

No, the 1080p trailers are much, much larger in size than the 720p trailers.

Oh, I see. Some people don't know this but the PS3 has more 1080p native games than the 360, it isn't by a large margin, but it's one of those facts that nice to know when someone says the PS3 can't do Native 1080p.
It's possible that when you have noticed that, they were infact 1080p games, or maybe it is just upscaled, just throwing that out there.
High Resolution, High Frame Rate is always going to be an issue in game development, no matter the generation.

I'm talking about well known 720p games with 1080p trailers. Bioshock for example. Whether or not PS3 has more 1080p games than 360 isn't relevant to my initial criticism.
Final Fantasy XIII isn't going to be a 1080p game, yet its trailer is 1080p. That means the trailer is either upscaled game footage or 1080p pre rendered just for the trailer, the first being pointless and the second misleading.

Ah, I see.
Interesting.
I guess the third possibility is that it is 1080p, but it's computer footage?...most likely you are right.
I would like to see the comparison between the vids now that you mention it.
That's not proof of anything. We don't know what the source of this video is from. The first one could have been done on a PC first and then it could have been moved over to the PS3. Who knows? Bad information with no real proof.http://www.analoghype.com/multiplatform/news/proof-ffxiii-is-dumbed-down/
