Proof Nintendo is ruining gaming.

I just saw the top 5 selling games this year MGS4 wasn't in them but mario kart and Wii fit were. I dont know about you but I think that is just a disgrace to gaming that a game 10 years in the making that cost 10s of millions to make sold less then a gimmick and a family orientated and basic racer possible on N64. Why should companies bother making hardcore gaming pushing technology when they can sell more making a casual game the whole family will play and spend a tenth of the price developing it. Casual gaming sucks and so does Nintendo.Solidyeas

I gotta agree with ya, its rather embarassing to true gamers, that games that have tons of time, energy, and effort put into them are being overshadowed by gimmicks and N64 games...

oh but wait, beyond good and evil sold terribly. great game. and okami....failed to break a million on 2 platforms. great game. giants citizen kabuto...sold zip. great game. anachranox...sold badly. great game. ico....sold bupkis...cracker.i could go on and on about the number of brilliant games that fail to break a few 100,000 units sold.

like it or not...crap sells. licenced trash sells. movie tie ins sell. rubbish games that are marketed well sell. quality is not a gurantee for success. thats the reality. that has always been the reality. nintendo didnt cause it with the wii. its the way the industry has always always been. if u want to blame someone then go to ure local store and start hollering at ppl who pick up said games until ure arrested (no really..dont do that).

personally i blame it on PC games not having big boxes. all of the industries problems boil down to that :P. j/k

with all due respect..that applies to all racers. racers are about racing. turismo: every new game...better graphics, more tracks and new cars. they didnt make it an RPG with drama and all that did they? colin Mcrae rally? same again. more tracks, cars and so fourth. PGR? same. forza? same.

what do u expect from mario kart exactly? that it becomes a FPS?

Level 15 is a better level to make a thread.

It would be nice to have a rep system, but some people would abuse it. I know for sure.

While it is true that Nintendo has made some outstanding games, most other games are just poor. It's the third-party companys that are giving the Wii it's value, not Nintendo themselves.

Yeah because when Mario Kart came out on the Super NES it was the start to the death of all gaming.

Well I find the Wireless controller fun and use it to play in the online tournaments. You can use the GC controller.

I know four people off the top of my head that enjoy Mario Kart Wii more than MGS4. I am nineteen, my girlfriend is nineteen, my friend is twenty, and my other friend is twenty.... so yea kinda proved you wrong with your whole younger gamers comment. Nintendo has accomplished what they planed to do. Get casual gamers more interested in games. The Wii is still a new console. By the end of the Game Cubes life, more mature and hardcore games were being released. Who is not to say that the same-thing will happen with the Wii? Or perhaps for awhile they are getting casual gamers more interested in gaming, than they will make hardcore games and things like that?

Point is, just because something you thought was better, sold worse than a game you thought was lame does not make it true. Its selling more, therefor its simply more popular. Really can't complain dude. Your system, your games, and your way of gaming has changed. Get over it. Nintendo has all right to ruin gaming though, they are the ones that saved it, and made it possible for you to whine about so to speak "lame" games.
