Psychonauts was amazing.
Okami was amazing.
They all sold poorly. Am I missing any other gems?

It could also be proof that gamers didn't find the games as amazing as critics did. There are a number of factors that determine how well a product will sell. Mass appeal is one of them, Psychonauts and Okami did not have mass appeal.
Good games? Yes. For everyone? No.
I could say the same for thousands of great games that never got off the ground just because the market never caught onto them. Being a good game isn't enough to move mass quanitities. Many good movies see crap sales compared to cheaper "Lesser" movies (By ciritics standards), music, art, literature, all forms of media suffer from this crutch of what is "Good".
It all depends on how someone defines good, critics stating a game does everything right and is enjoyable is one thing. Saying that everyone can enjoy it on the same level is another.
Agered 100% with your choices. Beyond Good & Evil comes to mind also. AMAZING game that very few bought.
Oh, I forgot. Bard's Tale on PS2. Last gen also. I think I'm one of the 7 or 12 people that actually bought it. Wonderful game. Possiably as funny as Psychonauts was.
Why is the MGS series so successful, then? The games place movie-like cutscenes above clunky stealth and action gameplay, and certainly this type of gameplay isn't "for everyone." Yet the series sells enormously well, and critics proclaim MGS4 as the title every PS3 owner must own. I'm not saying the MGS series is bad, but certainly one wouldn't say it's for everyone. It could also be proof that gamers didn't find the games as amazing as critics did. proof that reviews mean nothing at all. mw3 could score 6/10 and still sell 20 million copies... mind you no review site will score it that low because of the money and hype involved. But another example, dark souls wont sell nearly as much as other lower scoring games.
these games are great, but they didn't have the advertising needed in order to really set the charts on fire. You have to realize that in order to sell well you need lots of purchases from people that aren't as into gaming as people here are. Their appeal is not universal.

I loved that game..
I think we (GameSpot) are the only people who actually know about games. If you were to ask people questions about certain systems/games, they probably wouldn't know what you were on about. They mostly relyon T.V spots to tell them about new releases. r
Sadly, in order for a game to sell successfully it either has to have mass appeal, which in today's gaming means dumbing down for the casuals because otherwise it will be too complicated and hard for them, or have a big publisher get your back.

Demon's Souls.
I have to agree that those games were good however, it's not suprising that they did not sell well. They are marketed to the wrong crowd--the gamers. How many wants to play a game that looks like it was made for kids. Hell, we have folks who hate Pokemon just because of that specific reason. how many wants to play a bald head cool space marine? LOL I doubt a lot of folks want to play this

Demon's Souls.
Demon's Souls is high profile exclusive that was published by Namco Bandai in Europe and by Sony in Japan. It's not a casual game but it's got big publishers surrounding it so despite being hardcore it still suceeded.
Knights in the Nightmare sold so poorly it's ridiculous. possibly the best game I've played all gen.

Was marketed by consumers for the most part, a extremly rare occurance. Something that neither afformentioned game had going for it.Because most of "the gamers" now only care about online play, making most shooters overrated.dantesergeiGaming alone sucks imo. There are very few single player games I can get into anymore.
A 'good game' is determined strictly by opinion. There are plenty of good games that sell poorly and lots of bad games that sell a ton.

Yes you are missing tons. I never played Psychonauts, but I own and almost beat Okami.
Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins should be on that list. Better than Okami IMO :P.
