Proof the WiiU online will be a joke

Its seems Nintendo are once again failing to capture what makes XBL so great.

"Only "select games" will support voice chat on WiiU, Nintendo has confirmed."

To add further insult to injury, there will be NO official Wii U mic, meaning you HAVE to buy a third party mic.

BUT WAIT, theres more

Only wired mics are supported, which have to be plugged into the Gamepad. So if you're using the Wii U pro controller, you still have to have the Gamepad nearby in order to chat with friends :lol: Is this a joke Nintendo, in 2012 we're still getting crap like this?

I've stopped expecting Nintendo to anythign remotely near what I'd want for their hardware. Hopefully they release the games to actually make me want to buy a Wii U some day

You can talk to people online with plenty of launch games and the controller shipped with the system supports chat.

i'm done with chatting....nothing but trash talk, people chewing food on the mic, people coughing and sniffing, people playing music in their room, hearing an echo of your own voice because the guy has his tv loud....

and about the the wiiu pro pad not having a mic input....umm. the wiiupad is the same thing why even buy the pro controller.

I honestly wouldn't give a sh*t if the Wii U had no online at all.

1. I just got tired of most online mp games. sp and local mp games are were its at for me.

2. If I do want some online mp I have multiple other places to do it.

3. We all know that Nintendo will not be catching up to Sony or MS anytime soon in terms of infrastructure. And then PC will forever be superior to all.

Of course I'm only speaking for myself here, but I just couldn't care less. I actually hope the online is weak. That way more WiiU games will solely focus on the sp experience.

I don't exactly care. I've had my PS3 for a year and never bought a mic for it. I didn't even have a mic when I used to game on the 360.

C'mon sheep. This is bad. Admit it. I'm not bashing Nintendo cause I like Nintendo and I have a WiiU on preorder but this is bad. The closer we get to launch, these little things are starting to add up. This is a basic online function that should happen out of the box. It's so basic that most gamers don't even think about it. It's just there. It's always been there. Like I've stated before, I have my WiiU on preorder and I'm still gonna buy it, but will I keep it? That's the real question. The more these kind of things keep adding up, the more likely I am to sell it and make a profit and skip the WiiU until stuff like this, basic features, are fixed. And they will be. Nintendo will release something to fix these problems later if there's a huge backlash about it. todd2r

The Wii U will have a well integrated online service with a friends list, achievments, and everything, and it let's you play online with your friends for free, that makes it good in my book.

The only joke here is paying to play online and for an overrated chat feature that is free elsewhere.

first of all wiiU has voice chat so i don't know why you say it lacks this basic feature....ps3 doesnt even let you send voice messages to people...only xbox does..

also we dont know what games will lack voice chat... as long as the good 1st party games have it then who cares if a few mediocre games don't have it...we'll just have to wait and see.

Voice chat is one of the main pillars of online gaming, and Nintendo is just making it difficult with the Wii U for no reason. XBL has set the standard in this regard, and despite having years to copy, Nintendo is still fuking up.
