I am a big Metal Gear Solid fan, I bought my PS3 for MGS4. I also have fallen in love with Half-life 2 and Super Stardust HD since then. I absolutely love competing for the high score on the Stardust Leaderboard, and every once and a while I shoot for a trophy (Still working on that 15 bombs on bomb mode gold!)

I grew up with an Apple IIgs and have since played popular series' on various platforms like Quest for Glory, Monkey Island, Space Quest, Super Mario Bros 1-3, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy 3(6), Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid, and Smash Bros 64.

All of those games I experienced when they were new and fresh. I still remember when games first started talking - like I was actually astonished when in The Island of Doctor Brain Dr. Brain came out and gave me praises for solving puzzles. I remember the transition from 2D to 3D, when I bought the Playstation and played Tomb Raider, I thought it was amazing. I bought the PS2 for $400 when it came out and had Oni - oh the resolution and shinyness!

But after a month on these boards, I wouldn't dare call myself a true gamer. No way.

Compared to you guys I'm a casual gamer, and I'm proud of it. And no one else should be ashamed if someone calls them the same.

Enjoy life, and forget what everyone else is doing.

You define casual and hardcore, since there is no "real" definition.

I would call you a hardcore gamer, but that is just in my eyes.

BTW, you take SW too seriously.

As said before, anyone who posts on a gaming message board is not casual. You also were a first purchaser of a PS2 and you said you owned a PS1 and now you own a PS3. That is called a Sony gamer.

I'm a Wii-only owner, and I consider myself hardcore in some regards. I visit game sites and forums regularly to keep myself up to date with the industry. I play anywhere from 1 - 5 hours of games just about every day (would be more, but college makes me do homework and stuff >.

Just because I prefer Metroid and Zelda over MGS and Halo shouldn't mean I'm a casual gamer:roll:

I also owned an NES, SNES, an N64 and a Gamecube... Now I own a Wii. What does that make me?

I also had one of those old brick gameboys, and now I own a DS...

Additionally, back in the day, I had an IBM 386, I remember when Pentium processors came out, and I have only recently stopped upgrading my computer...

Actually, if it weren't for MGS4, I'd probably only have a Wii.

So you're saying you're denying the fact that you're hardcore because you don't like how we act?

If so, that's just the fanboys whose behavior you don't like; they don't accurately depict the hardcore gamer.

Also, a casual gamer is an idiot who would sooner buy barbie horse adventures than the copy of Metal Gear Solid right next to it.

I admit I probably wouldn't hate them as much (if at all) if Nintendo didn't use their current strategy.

Still waiting for that revolution, BTW.
