[QUOTE="Frostbite24"][QUOTE="CajunShooter"] What happens when you stop subscribing to your internet provider or cable provider or a magazine?

I like how people are so mad or confused at how you can't keep "free" games when you stop subscribing, yet there are hundreds of other services and products that require subscriptions, so it isn't some crazy concept on how Sony is ripping you off.

CajunShooter

Yet people bash XBL for the same reason.

People bash Microsoft because they charge you for something you get every wheres else for no additional cost.

It isn't like Microsoft is offering what playstation plus does for free.

Where can I get an all-encompassing service with as many features as XBL for free?

You could argue that they don't need to because what you get is quality enough.

The PC.

For the record, as a long time XBL subscriber (longer than most in SW), I can tell you first hand XBL is not remotely near all-emcompassing. Not even the XBL execs aka "The Suits" would make such a bold claim.

Only in SW. :P

I want to be clear for other readers. You said Service, not hardware. So, you want to know where you can get a service that's exactly identical to XBL, which is a mishmash of apps from other companies? That would take time and energy to list, but good luck on your quest. I answered the one question, and that's all I'm delivering for SW today. I'm sure you can track down the answer, I believe in you. That much effort I reserve for close friends on Skype and other sites these days, as my time is so limited.

However, keep in mind there are hardware deals for College students. :P

Well the thing is that there isn't a service comparable to XBL for free on the PC.

That's not to say you can't get all the features, but the problem is that you have to sign up for a few dozen different programs, have them all running at once, and none of them are integrated with each other anyways. ANd even then some of them won't come to you for free.

That is true depending on how you view the service. You are interested/like the integration enough to subscribe, more power to you. I know I am a a longtime subscriber, but for me it boils down to the crossgame voice chat/party chat feature. :P

It's not so much that

I just think the whole argument that you can get what XBL gives for free elsewhere is a flawed argument.

Steam has messaging and community features. Really the only thing I can think of that a computer wouldn't have normally like a music player is a voice thing, and pc is so much better when it comes to that because you can use things like mumble which have dedicated servers.

Oh and yeah, you have to pay for that, but there's crappy stuff like skype that's free I think.

Well, I'm not defending that argument since I know first hand that's not the case. XBL offers things PSN doesn't, but PSN offers things that XBL doesn't, and PC seems to offer what both XBL and PSN offer, but without the integration. :P Netflix was on 360 first, but HULU was on PSN first, Amazon Video On Demand is on PS3 now, VUDU, MLB, ESPN, Crackle, HOME, Youtube, and many more apps keep being added to the both networks over time.

Boy, thinking about this, Nintendo has it's work cut out for them with the Wii U in just playing catch up, let alone surpassing what is offered today. :P

But XBL isn't just limited to a music player, messaging, and online gaming.

There are all the entertainment packages as well that are all fully integrated into your little XBL social network

Question about PS+

Do the games you have access to change every month?

Like, if they release XYZ game on PS+

Can you still play it 6 months from now if you still have a subscription?

Or is it just for that 1 month, and then they remove it and you gotta buy it.

Entertainment packages?

Such as?

As far as I'm aware XBL subscription gives you ability to play online, Netflix, and party chat.

That's it.

There is ESPN3 but it requires a compliant cable company (which apparently mine is not.)

As long as you're a ps+ member you can play the games you download anytime. Once you stop paying however you can't play them anymore.

Yes, as long as you download them and your a PS+ member the games will stay with you forever if your a Ps+ member forever, even if you end your subscribtion today and renew next year the games will still be there but you wont be able to play till you renew. the games have no limit other that your subscribtion to the service. i still have the first game that came out a year ago on my HDD.

Some games stay with you no matter if your PS+ member or not.

I dont think there is such list.. you should go to PSN store and see the games by yourself, make sure you view all the difffrent sections of the PS+ on PSN store.

You missed on some really good games tho like Jerassic Park episodes, Back to the Future episodes, Tomb Rider and others more all came out few months ago but the selection keeps getting better each month.

I must say, PSN+ deals can rival Steam sometimes. Still, I never took the chance, because I heard if you cancel your PSN+ subscription, you lose those games. I mean, nothing wrong with that, because I think PSN+ is fairly priced (and more than makes up for it in its deals) but I spend more time on my PC than my PS3, so I won't be able to take advantage of the deals :P.

For once a good lineup of games for PS+. It's a shame I already bought Trine 2 for $2.99, and Rock of Ages for $4 on Steam a few weeks back. I might have had to consider PS+ this month. For the games, and to get the discount on the extended warranty for my new PS3. Since I was screwed on 3 previous PS3s it's probably time to consider biting the bullet and buying an extended warranty.

I don't really see your point, pc may have different programs for doing these things, but I view that as a good thing, it encourages compeitition.

Kudos to Sony for offering good value in exchange for subscribing to Plus, rather than taking the low road of stripping features then selling them back (yet). Let's hope this becomes the norm rather than the exception (I'm looking at you and your pathetic "sales" Xbox) :)

Looks like a bad month. This month you got Shank 2 and Need for Speed: Shift 2.

[QUOTE="Raymundo_Manuel"]

[QUOTE="cain006"]Steam has messaging and community features. Really the only thing I can think of that a computer wouldn't have normally like a music player is a voice thing, and pc is so much better when it comes to that because you can use things like mumble which have dedicated servers.

Oh and yeah, you have to pay for that, but there's crappy stuff like skype that's free I think.

But XBL isn't just limited to a music player, messaging, and online gaming.

There are all the entertainment packages as well that are all fully integrated into your little XBL social network

I don't really see your point, pc may have different programs for doing these things, but I view that as a good thing, it encourages compeitition.

Sure, but why would there be competition on a closed platform? As an inclusive network, XBL is integrated extremely well.
