PS Plus most popular gaming service in US. Followed by Amazon Luna in 2nd, and Xbox Gamepass in 3rd.

@mowgly1: poor mowgly, last week you were making bs threads about Europe sending surveys out for the AB acquisition. This week it's another gamepass thread. So much saltiness coming from you. Let me give you a tip.

"If you can't beat them, join them." Go buy a series S, get gamepass and kiss sony goodbye forever. Then these salty threads of yours might stop.

LMAO.

So your excuse is that, since xbox has been selling very poorly for the last two generations is why xbox has a smaller user base, even though game pass is also offered on the pc? wow talk about a bad argument why game pass is in 3rd place. but hey , at least you confirmed that Playstation is a console that 99% of console gamers prefer to game on.

It has PC too. Can't spin it. PS+ is just plain more popular

For some reason Xbox fans ignores PC platform and Gamepass there. How many PC are there, tens of millions? Right. Yep, even worse results for "best deal in gaming".

It is the best deal in gaming. When I download a game, it's a local install.
XBOX has more readily available games on it than PS5. Prove me wrong.

Oh, the poor and brainwashed Xbox fan. LOL

How many games GP has on Xbox? Around 400. LOL

Around 500 games on PS+ Premium on PS5 are downloadable. PS3 games only can be streamed (around 400 of them) . Xbox has more readily available games your ass, Phil Spencers ass, balls and what not

You should pick your bettles more wisely.

lol well you're the one who said that Game Pass has a small user base and the only way that can be is that xbox consoles are not selling loll. because when you have last gen xbox console and current gen xbox and PC's able to access Game pass, they are only two reasons why you would think game pass has a small user base 1. its a bad service and no one wants it, or 2. xbox has sold like sh... for the last two generations.

Lol I had never heard of Amazon Luna until this post. I have both PS Plus and Game Pass, though. I'm happy with both services. Seriously, I feel like they are of equal quality and I have found stuff on both that I want to play. Mostly indie titles, but they've both been worth it.

Boy lems. You came in like a wrecking ball but end up leaving like a red headed step child that got caught stealing. Gamepass has a bigger potential fanbase than PS+, thats a fact.

Except... PS Now and the new "spartacus" variant is still on the PC thus increasing PSs own potential user base.

It's alright. I am not a fan of streaming or subscription gaming, but it does have a big list of classics.

LOL. PS Now wasn't even the main service, pathetic Xbox being. PS gamers buys games first and foremost, PS+ comes 2nd. Unlike Xgirls who don't buy games and just wait when it will appear on Gamepass. The only reason PSNow sucked was that Sony were lazy with it, on the PC at least.

Just checked out PS Plus on the PC. Miles Morale, Ghosts of whatever, Bloodborne, LOU Remastered, not LOU Remastered Remastered, the first one. It's got most exclusives.

So... No need for a Playstation then. XD

Not surprising. The most popular console should have the most popular subscription service.

That stated, the wording on that source is weird. It only references people who have paid for PS+, but for the other platforms it replaces paid with used. Either poor editing or shoddy polling.

https://augustafreepress.com/ps-plus-most-popular-gaming-service-in-the-us-with-41-reach/

According to a recent survey from Statista, Sony’s subscription service PS Plus is the most popular among US viewers. The survey, conducted in May, asked 1099 US video game subscribers whether they have spent money on various gaming subscription services during the past year.

41% of those surveyed said they had paid for PS Plus/PS Now. The second spot is occupied by Amazon Prime Gaming/Amazon Luna. 39% of gamers said they had used Amazon services during the past year. Luna is a cloud-based gaming service provided by Amazon in the United States. It was launched to the general public in 2021.

Microsoft is in the third spot for its collection of services such as Xbox/PC Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. 37% of gamers surveyed said they had used one or more of these services during the past year. In the fourth spot, Google Play Pass was also used by 37% of the survey base during the past year.

Netflix Games completes the top five with a 33% reach among video game subscribers. Nintendo Switch Online is the least used service among services offered by three major console companies. The Nintendo service has a reach of only 32%.

I have to admit the new revamp sony service is much better than the old ps now.

just needs more ps4 to ps5 games. no reason to be playing spiderman ps4 version on the ps5.

why can't sony unlock spiderman ps5 version?

The butthurt by cows is real.

From the article: “It must be noted that Sony’s subscription services underwent significant restructuring in May. Before June, Sony provided two subscription services: PS Plus and PS Now. During the restructuring in June, Sony decided to merge two services and introduced the new PS Plus with three different tiers. The impact of this change is not visible in the survey."

Cows now have to rely on slanted surveys...

yes but as a PlayStation and series s owner I can tell you the new ps now is much better than it was before.

games like retunal, ghost, spiderman, god of war, demon souls remake, stray, death stranded and more are great games to play.

gamepass needs more new exciting games it really does.

if someone skipped the ps4 and went to ps5 would have more to choose from than if someone skipped the xbox one and got a series x.

the PlayStation service has more exciting games in my opinion. only if you have there top tier service of course.

Both Playstation and Xbox both have an awesome service. The new SONY service is much better than Now although I think it could still use some work.. on that note however, in a few months it will probably be a lot better since each month or set of two weeks they are adding a lot of content.

It's not...

"Microsoft is in the third spot for its collection of services such as Xbox/PC Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold" It literally says "Xbox Game Pass & More" on the chart... Xbox actually has an advantage because it is including the PC platform. And they're still behind...

https://www.inverse.com/gaming/sony-playstation-plus-vs-xbox-game-pass

According to Sony’s statement, “Game Pass has grown to capture approximately 60-70 percent of the global subscription services market.” With that, the Sony representative also notes it would take a competitor several years, even with “substantial investments” in order to catch up. Sony has been putting a ton of effort into attracting subscribers to its PlayStation Plus offering since June 2022. But the biggest problem with New PlayStation Plus is that it practically takes a spreadsheet to understand how everything works.

Looks like Sony is taking a massive beating from Microsoft, according to Sony.

LMAO! Where do you find these sites that write these articles? The source for that article is a ResetEra post... The article compares the PS+ tiers to the Wii U...

I need to know where this 60%-70% number comes from and how it was calculated. The article, I mean ResetEra post, also states that Xbox has 70%-80% of the PC subscription services market on PC in Brazil. Are they using PC, playing with the numbers, and misrepresenting the data to try to play the victim here? All Xbox would have to do to counter is say, 'lets look at the revenue and see who needs to catch up." If Xbox had 60%-70% of the subscription market, they would be making more money that PlayStation. A lot more... PS is using Game Pass being on PC to skew some metric they've come up with, that doesn't actually represent any sort of market performance.

Inverse.com... Y'all will look to the dark cracks of the internet to find these articles...

It was part of Sony's deposition to a Brazilian regulation committee investigating MS's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

You may not like what Sony said, but they did say it. You can just Google "sony game pass brazil", there are dozens of articles about it.

@dabear: My jab at the article was that they sourced a ResetEra post. What “professional” article would source a message board post, and not the source of the information? A couple of phone calls is all it would take to get this info from the horses mouth…

And I would take anything Sony says here with a grain of salt. They are terrified of losing COD. That series is BY FAR their biggest source of 3rd party software revenue. They are gonna be saying all sorts of wild shit to keep COD both on their platform, and without financially contributing to Xbox

The CoD point is valid, and I think their deposition was sprinkled with self deprecation in order to cast doubt on the A/B acquisition.

Yeah, I figure the best source for Sony info is Sony. Not sure why that is in question. But since Sony knows that Xbox is dominating the subscription space globally with 60-70%, it's clear that this survey of 1000 people at Statistica isn't worth a hill of beans, lol.

yeah, Sony is letting Game Pass run away with the subscription market.. putting PlayStation Studios titles in day-and-date would be a huge boost for subscriptions but hopefully they don't wait until it's too late..

competition is good for us consumers and i hope Sony steps up their efforts in this space..

@Antwan3K: The issue is PlayStation has 0% share of the PC subscription market. I think that is the reason for the discrepancy in global subscription services market share, and the revenue numbers and whatever this info TC used for this thread, represents. PS is playing games. They’re they ONLY ones with a problem with the acquisition. And on the flip side, Microsoft saying A/B makes no “must have games” is their answer to Sonys hyperbole.

Streaming games on PC is idiotic. Especially when they just doubled the price for access on PC… Anyone subbed to that service to stream PS4/PS5 games on their PC needs a CT scan

True. The PS+ subscription has been out for 12 years now. My bad.

@x_hedon: What? No. That feature got rolled into the top tier of PS+. It wasn’t always part of PS+… PC didn’t have PS+. You’re trying to hard with all these gymnastics. Sony is trying their best to hide that feature, while trying to sell their PC games to a new market. Predictable money moves from $ony

The only gymnastics being performed are by you. You said:

That is 100% blatantly false. PlayStation has had a share of the PC subscription market for 8 years so far. It's still here today. In fact, Sony has had a PC subscription market for longer than Microsoft has had. And unless Sony discontinues their PC subscription offering, they will always have a share of the PC subscription market longer than MS.

Your spin is amazing though. We will give you that.

@x_hedon: You find me a person that is subbed to the top PS+ tier that streams PS games to their PC… Find me a person that subbed to PS Now to stream games to their PC. It’s ok, I’ll wait…
