Ps vita needs to step up

During E3 everybody was hyper because of the vita. The price was the same with the 3ds, quality games, and much more. I got so hyped I began to bash on the 3ds and nintendo fan boys and proclaimed that vita won the handheld war before it even started. But as time passed, so did my hype for the vita fell. First, the 3ds price cut. Now many viewed this as a desperation move and it probably is a desperation move, but 3ds sales exploded after the deduction. Second, gamescom. To be honest I was expecting a lot of vita news during gamescom since it is actually a bigger event than E3; however I was again dissapointed. Sony just showed the same games that they debuted in E3, and resistanc looked mediocore. After gamescom, kiz hirai confirmed that the vita will not arrive in 2011 for europe, NA and majority of the world. Then came TGS and nintendo's press conference. Monster hunter 3g was announced. I was like damn 3ds is gonna dominate in japan. Then MH4 was announced for the 3ds. It makes sense that MH3g was announced to the 3ds since MH tri was for the wii, but MH4 announcement pretty much meant that capcom would stick with nintendo. And lets not forget that nintendo can summon pokemon if they want to. During nintendo's press conference, games such as friends mii 2?? was announced; the 1st one sold 4mil copies in japan. Now thinking back the 3ds had Kingdomhearts, tons of level 5 games, and loads of system selling 1st party games. In the other hand what did sony and 3rd parties announce during TGS, ports ports ports, remake , ports, shovelwhere. I was shocked that many third party vita games looked on par with ps2 and 3ds games. EX F1, Ys, Ragnarok oddysey, lord of aco wth ii dont rememver the name and many other games.3ds is 10000yen cheaper, and many system selling softwares will hit this winter. I remember during gamescom, sony said the vita will have the most powerful playstation launch ever. Well for japanese vita launch we have port port por, uncharted, shovel where thats probably not going to be loacalized, ports. And yes I am aware of sony saying nintendo is not their competitor, but that has to be the most stupidest statement ever. If 3ds software sells well, then more 3rd parties will move to 3ds side and make games, thus reducing vita's 3rd party support and console sales. I really wish someone translates this to playstaion CEO,because right now, vita is looking horrible. THere are no killer titles that will probably shift the entire console sales. Uncharted is not a killer title. Hell the entire uncharted series is yet to sell 8 mil while games like Super mario ds sold 20mil alone.And just to let you know, I know the japanese market is somewhat dying, but you have to remember japanese still control the portable market.

I'm not bashing on the vita nor am i praising the 3ds. I'm just concerned for the vita.

How can the PSP vita step it up when it's not even out yet... I would wait intill a few months after it's relase (everywhere) before saying it needs to step it up.

Last month I couldnt be bothered to give the 3ds a second thought, and now im dying to get my hands on it! Im sure there will be some major announcements in terems of vita software soon though.

To be fair it took Nintendo over 7 months to step up and start taking 3DS to the right path can we just wait till SONY relase Vita before asking them to step up so far it seems they got a decent launch line up and a good price.

I agree,Vita need to do so much more to catch up with the Nintendos 3DS.If I had to make a bet who is going to dominate the handheld market and have a gigantic lead in sales and quality games then I would put my entire money on the 3DS.It seems Sony doesnt take the handheld market so seriously like Nintendo does.

Sony is bit too conservative(copy too much,dont take enough risks) and plus they dont have the quality IPs and games of different genre and the amount of them like Nintendo has.Mario,Donkey,Kirby (Plattforemrs)- Mario Kart,Wave Rave,F-.zero (racing)-Pokemon,Paper Mario,Golden Sun (rpg),-Fire Emblem,Advance Wars (strategy),-Zelda,Metroid (Action Adventure),Smash Bros (fighter) and games of any other genre you can imagnine.So there is something for everyone.Nintendo has been around for more than 25 years and can create billions of potential games with different genres so they could create a very competitive handheld just with their epic and glorious first party alone but if you combine it with perfect third party support(e.g. Monster hunter 4) then you have a killer combination.

Sony was always dependent on third party games,but third party companies are not loyal so thats why Xbox 360 is ahead of the PS now, as it lost the superior third party support.People mainly bought PS systems to play third party games such as Final Fantasy,Metal Gear,GTA and now these games are e.g. not restricted to Sony plattforms anymore and Playstation went down in compariosn to previous gens.Sony was a bit lazy in creating,maintaining quality first party games,when they were on top due to incredible third party support and thats damaging them now and will probably also damage them in the future.

Sony needs to keep working hard and make games which are not watered-down console ports or some unknown mini-games .Uncharted Golden Abyss is probably going to end up on the PS3 at some stage anyway.

Sony has no killer game which could match Nintendos.Uncharted is not so big(relatively) outside S.W. for example(it sells only around 3 million copies on average,New Mario bros sold around 20 million on the DS and Wii e.g.).Plus if Vita ends up selling 25 million units in 10 years then 3DS will have a lead of more than 100 million units in 5 years.The funny thing is Nintendo is trying really hard to maintain the handheld market and not because of the Vita but because of cheap mobile phone games.

I am not "dying" to get my hands on a 3DS anytime soon...the hardware was completely an afterthought (emphasis on the circle pad, the lackluster battery) whereas on the Vita the software and the hardware are on the right step.

If anything Sony needs to be ready to advertise the crap out of the Vita since the 3DS will already be thoroughly established at that point, especially in Japan.

Nothing Nintendo did for TGS or up to this point has given me any reason to want the 3DS besides Super Mario Land 3D, they hiked up the price because of the crazed attention it got at E3 2010 and it backfired horribly. They got to sure of themselves a la Sony 2006.

I'm not even going to read that, but I will say that I feel the Vita will be successful. I don't think it will ever be more successful than the 3DS but it will do just fine by itself. I can't wait to get one!
