1 PS1

2 N64

3 N64

4 N64.

I own both.

jim_shorts

how come you feel the graphics are better on ps1? n64's graphics are brighter, bolder, more smooth and detailed. the ps1's graphics were just jaggy and ugly. like watching the screen through scrunched up cling film

No Mario doesn't. It had blurry graphics to. Just not as blurry as most N64 games. I can't speak for Conkers, but I don't see it being any different.

1. Graphics are debatable. PS has a lot of pre-rendered stuff so it's hard to tell which was technically better.

2. PS had better single player games. N64 had better Multiplayer games. Granted, most of the multiplayer games were good in single player too (like Perfect Dark/Goldeneye), but N64 didnt' have anything as good as the Final Fantasy games or Chrono Cross (except for OOT which isn't an RPG so it's hard to compare).

3. N64 because I had a bunch of people to play it with.

4. I liked the N64 better because it had no loading times, no memory cards, and it beat the Playstation in every genre except RPG's.

They were both spectacular gaming consoles. One of the last generations of "true" gaming consoles. I loved my PS. I did play tons of N64 at friends houses but I don't think I liked any console more than the PS back in the day (I enjoy the SNES more now). I can still go back to the library of PS games at any time and just play them. No "adjustments" needed at all.

polishkid99

1. They were both close on graphics, there wasn't a huge difference, I give this to the PS1 for the FMVs

2. PS1 had FF VII, VIII, Tactics, Suikoden II, Chrono Cross and Tekken 3, which I think are some of the greatest games ever. For the N64 I only liked Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, and Ocarina of Time, and not much more.

3. PS1 by a lot of difference

4. Idem 3

PS1 all the way. The N64 had good games, but severely lacked any good RPGs. The PS1 had FF7, Legend of Legaia, Wild Arms, and so much more, where-as the N64 had barely anything

As for better graphics, the N64 had slightly better graphics (obviously, because it was released later). However, the 64mb cartridges may have pushed some developers to lower the graphics in order to save space on the cartridge. The PS1 did not have that problem with their CDs.

1. PS1(by a slim margin)- though the n64 had mip-mapping and anti-aliasing (wich resulted in those smooth blurred textures{which at the time was considered better than the pixelly blocky ones}in addition to very sharp lines with very little 'teh jaggies') the ps1 pushed more polygons per scene and because of storage medium advantage had a vast diversity in textures..despite the better hardware of the n64 the latter batch of ps1 games looked better for the most part... i do give credit to n64's special effects, though mostly to hide pop-up or limited draw distances it produced the best fog effects of the time and also produced very good chrome effects with good reflections... it also rendered the best water effects of the generation...

2. PS1- Xenogears, SOTN, Resident Evils, FFV7,8,9, FFT, MGS, Suikoden 1 + 2, Vandal Hearts 1 + 2, Vagrant Story, Persona, Toshinden (was unequalled at the time), Lunar: Silver Star Story+Eternal Blue (yes they were sega cd {then Saturn} but PS1 ended up with the superior versions), Chrono Cross, Alundra, GT1+2, Soul Blade, Tobal 2 (some of the best char models of the time), Tekken 2, Wipeout+XL, Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Ace Combats.... vs....Mario 64, Zelda:OOT+MM, Golden Eye+Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron, Shadows of the Empire, Killer Instinct Gold, Waverace 64, Mario Kart 64. There was simply just alot more to do on the PS1 despite the great gems that were found on the n64.

3. PS1- i really wanted nintendo to be the one but it just didnt turn out that way

4. PS1- better build quaility was n64 (i still remember turning my ps1 on its side to play certain games) but there were SO MANY more games on ps1 and fully orchestrated soundtracks were just not possible on n64

heres some questions about them

1. which system had better graphics? N64

2. which system had better games? N64 (It had Ocarina of Time; Super Mario 64; Donkey Kong 64; Mario Kart 64; Super Smash Bros; Goldeneye; Perfect Dark. Now, I know the PS1 had its fair share of excellent games, but in my opinion, the games I listed make the N64 the superior console.

3. which system did you like more? N64.

4. and finally overall what system do you think was better? N64.
