What's the point of having a console that is 100% reliable of there aren't any good games on it? You buy consoles for their games not their hardware and that is why it is one of the best consoles ever.

Anyone could make a super powerfull console that would cost 2000$ but what's the point? The best console should be determined by how successfull it was and how "good" it was to own one.

gamespot rated GTASA on ps2 higher than the xbox and pc versions, so i guess the controls are more crucial than slightly upgraded visuals and custom soundtracks(which really isnt need for SA since it has such a wide variety of awesome songs) and i agree cus i played it on xbox and the ps2 version trumps it.

Good hardware is still useless without software. As an example the Xbox hardware was way better than the PS2s(power and reliability wise) but can you really say it was better to own a Xbox instead of a PS2?

You addressed it, but it still doesn't make sense. You do have a double standard, and it cleary shows. We added the PS3 to your topic because you said the PS2 wasn't the best console. Then by your definition the PS3 is the best console. Either way Sony has the best console.

People keep calling the PS1 or the PS2 the best console ever. They are far from the top of that list. People need to realize that the having the best library of games =/= being the best console. I can understand it being the best choice but that doesn't make it the best console. That's like saying the Toyota Camry is the best car ever. I'm not trying to nit-pick, I just wish that someone would say it has the best library instead of making it sound like some technical achievement. May to celebrate mediocrity....Spartan070


People keep calling the ps1 and ps2 the best console because overall it is the best console(s) ever.It sold the most, it had the most quality titles and the biggest fanbase ever.The hardware was inferior compared to GC and Xbox but obviously people didnt mind that, otherwise it would've been another story.Xbox and GC (very close in sales) were destroyed by playstation2.N64 destroyed by ps1.Your opinion may differ but the hard facts say otherwise.

sound rated lower on PC and gamplay rated lower on both, its the controls, and i agree playing GTA on xbox is just awkward, i suppose if you only played it strictly on xbox it may not seem that way. but GTA is just built around the ps2 controller and its done well.

Ok. Spartan is saying the best console means the best in hardware. We say the best console is the best library. Spartan defintion states that the PS3 is the best console. Our definition states PS2 is the best console. So, either way Sony has the best console.

Interesting. Considering that the PC version permitted custom soundtracks you would have assumed the opposite despite the possibility of some hidden sound bugs in the PC version or something. Thanks. :D

you can't rate a "best" of all console on hardware, as that generally means the newest one will win, no contest.. that must mean the NES is one of the crappiest consoles ever, right? i mean 8-bits?! C'MON!! in the end, the only fair comparison you can make between consoles are their games.

maybe im old-fashioned but i always assumed that an awesome game library would ultimately guarantee an awesome system :|useLOGIC
If guarantees a good choice of which to buy but software titles have no effect on the actual console....

PS3 is the best console ever, it has the most advanced hardware. That makes every other console inferior and pathetic.

True but I judge them chronologically by the time frame and generation in which they launched. Still the PS3 probably takes it.
