 If you've never owned a gamecube, go for the Wii. It's perfectly backwards compatible, and you can play some classic gamecube games for cheap, and at the same time, play the newer Wii games (plus Metroid Prime Corruption is coming out in a few months).
Both are good choices.The PS2 has been out longer,and has a lot of great games out,most of which you can get cheap.The Wii provides a unique experience,and I'm pretty sure there are enough titles out right now that will keep your interest while the big titles come out later this year.It comes down to which you prefer.

Hmm thats true, not only is the Wii backwards compatible for the GC and you can play Wii games on it. But it also has a lot of other classic titles from other Nintendo consoles. Quite frankly, scrap my initial responce, since I have no idea. I guess it depends on your situation.Â
