This is a question to people who own both a 360 and a PS3.

I am an owner of a xbox360 and I recently bought a PS3. Since I bought a PS3, i find myself getting the PS3 version more and more than the 360 version for multi platform games. One recent example is the Darkness. I have heard that the 360 version of the game has better visuals than the PS3 version (but that is not what this thread is about). But when I went to blockbuster to rent it, I found myself getting the PS3 version instead because I have a fear one of these days Im going to put in a game for my 360 and I will get that dreaded red ring of death. So now I find myself avoiding the 360 version of the game just because of that. When GTA IV comes out, I will probably buy the PS3 version (even though the 360 version is going to be superior due to its extra content) because of that fear.

Anyone else feel the same way.

No. I think that my 360 is not a ticking time bomb, and its a perfectly good console. And I keep it well ventilated - year round a large fan point blank, heat off in winter, and AC full blast in the summer - so I really don't think the red ring would be a problem. I would turn a PS3 into a ticking time bomb though if given the chance - Playstation + explosion = fun!

Hmm, I have had my 360 for over a year now and tobe honest, I do feel like it is a ticking bomb, but I feel that if I don't play it I miss out on a lot of great games. So I play, the rest is second. Enjoy the system while it works, if it breaks, then just use your PS3 in the future. Problem solved, at least I think so. :)

I wouldn't be worried about getting multiplats for it (although I would always go with PS3 if equal versions). But yeah all 360's are ticking time bombs. I seriously doubt ANY of them produced before the 65nm chips are used will make it to the end of this generation. The problem is heat over time. If you use it, it will die. Still waiting on those 65nm versions to get mine...

Not at all. In fact I had TWO defective PS3s. It wouldn't accept HDMI signals, they came from the same batch of consoles. My 3rd PS3 came 6000 units BEFORE the first two I got on the assembly line. It worked perfectly.

you have a 3 year warranty, do not fear! buy the 360 intercooler fan , it keeps your 360 10 degrees cooler and if you get it in time your 360 may never get hot enough to crash.

i got 3 red lights on my 360 before they announced the warranty, so i had already taken it apart 6 times. i replaced the x clamps with screws but after a couple days the lights would come back, so the last time i over heated it ( to melt the soldier back in place) and bought the Intercooler before i turned it back on, it's be runnning great for 2 weeks.

i feel perrty macho fixing it myself.

Nope, my new Elite runs much cooler than my past 360 consoles. I also have a Best Buy 2 Year PRP, that I can also renew after 2 years. No worries here. :)

If the 360 didn't have an extended warrantee I would be worried but it does so it's a non issue. Strange, now I kinda wish it would break so I could get a new system with the extra heatsink.

Same its mostly morons who put the brick on carpet or the console in a cramped area. RROD does exist on some even if they have a vented console, but its far from the 33% crap. Thats for the PS2.

I feel exactly the same way! I'm also buying the PS3 version of games, and I will be getting the PS3 version of GTA 4 too. I totally don't trust my 360 ever since it broke down a couple of months ago now. I don't want to buy games for it and then it breaks down again and I can't play them...

However Ill have to bite the bullet soon, because I'm dying to play Halo 3!

Mine got the 3 red rings but i fixed it with the penny trick it has been working perfectly since i fixed it and i have been playing alot with no crashes or issues so no i don't think my 360 is a time bomb :). And while the red rings may be a big issue don't forget that most xbox360 consoles don't have it so you shouldn't wory about playing it there have been people that got the 3rod after not playing it for a couple of days or weeks the problem dosen't come from overuse but from bad ram connection atleast thats what i think. Even if you get 3rod i advise you to just send it back to MS i fixed mine before MS announced their extended warranty but it works both ways if you want to go trough the process of fixing which is not hard at all.

Yeah, what's the big deal? You paid a few hundred bucks for the thing and who knows how much for games and then there's the XBL account so what's the biggie if you have to deal with this thing breaking once in awhile. It's a welcome breakt to read a book or something.

lol. I wasn't either. BTW, my PS2 died on me; after five years of service. First the DVD function went and then it couldn't read games at all. But again, I got five years out of the thing. I'd call that getting my money's worth.

Gotcha. All I meant was I would hope there wouldn't be a broken PS2 thread after nearly a decade of it being around. Otherwise Sony would be giving Microsoft a run for their money in the sport of making piss-poor hardware...

The only reason 360's crap out on people is because it has a hard time handling all the greatness of the games on the system. You'll notice the PS3 does not have this problem, which is why it hardly ever fails. How can people not see this?

Totally feel the same word to word.

Anyways, iv read the 5 pages of posts so far, and alot of people didnt seem to read my post.

This is a question for people who own a ps3 AND a xbox360. I dont care if their xboxes died and how, what, and when they fixed it. My question is are people getting the PS3 versions of games instead of the xbox versions because they are afraid of this, not the "my xbox got the ring of death, i got it fixed, blah blah" This is a question for people who's xbox360s haven't died yet.

The only reason 360's crap out on people is because it has a hard time handling all the greatness of the games on the system. You'll notice the PS3 does not have this problem, which is why it hardly ever fails. How can people not see this?rykaziel

if this isnt fanboyism, i dont know what is

I used to worry a little bit, especially around the time that Oblivion came out, (as Morrowind messed up an old Xbox, due to playing the game too much  ) so i worried that my obsession for TES would ruin my 360 aswell...

But it didnt and i havnt really worried since, i've had my 360 since day one of its launch and its still running great, if it breaks i'm covered by warrenty so there's no point in worrying.

As far as multiplats, i dont have a preference of which i buy multiplats for, if its better on the PS3 (UT3) or the 360 (The Darkness) i'll get that version :D

It's sarcasm. Next time I'll be more specific.
