PS3 demolishes 360 and Wii in sales

PS3 outsold the Wii and 360 in an outragous landslide last week. Will it continue?

Worldwide PS3 sold 550,256

360 sold 162,196

Wii sold 181,970

NO, it's just new that the PS3 is outselling the others.

Its probably because everyone already has a 360 and Wii and I doubt people will buy two so its no suprise! :P :P :P

Why is it that the PS3 having a good week is acceptable in the forum but I try to have sales discussion with basis that isn't gloating and all of a sudden sales don't matter and I should play games?

Uh, that's a demolition for a week's sales easily! And the 360 waqs out a year before PS3 to gain a lead and th 360's been cheaper until now.

It's good to see Sony is getting their money out of the Playstation 3.

I don't understand, it outsold the other consoles by about 3-1 on what essentiall is going to be one of its best weeks but its software was still behind them. Why is this news worthy, isn't this expected?

It's not surprising, seeing as Sony released a new model, had a significant price cut, and is heavily marketing the PS3. When you look at those aforementioned things, it's not surprising that they are selling a bunch of systems.

The question is, how long will they be able to maintain these sales for? In my opinion, they have a chance to surpass the 360 in lifetime sales by the end of the generation. Nintendo, on the other hand, is a completely different beast..they are too far ahead to lose now.

I don't think it'll outsell the others by that much in a month or so, but I do think the PS3 will outsell the other two for good.

Considering one of those consoles is the first console in history to not have a price cut after 3 years on the market I would say that you are grasping. As far as the 360 goes, its consistent as well. Its up in Japan, up in NA and seems to be up in Europe. It will have sustained sales. If you think the Ps3 is going to continue having wild hardware sales after christmas I really hope you brace yourself, you will be let down.

The other two have been outselling the PS3 till now. This is a sign that people recognize the PS3 as the better deal for their money. The PS3 packed with the best hardware and tech is the same price as the 360 and only $50 more than the Wii. People will choose the PS3 in this scenario. The other 2 will have to be priced lower by over a $100 to outsell the PS3.

Says who? I really am clueless as to how you came up with this senario. Price drop + redesign equals better sales. Its not rocket science. All this speculation about value and such is really just that speculation. You're acting as if the PS3 appeals to the endless amount of users, did you ever consider that the 360 has 7 million less people to sell itself to and the wii has 30 million less? Man, if the wii dropped like $50 I would love the result, it would truly be funny to see SW reaction. But enough with the "what ifs". I don't really think you will "get it" no matter how I phrase it.

sony made a price drop

sony made a smaller, more efficient model.

sony is doing everything right, of course they're doing great!

and somehow that rationalizes the fact that they got whupped, and theirs is still better because of it. :P

As long as the PS3 is experiencing "healthy" growth, I'll be happy. It is a great console that has faced nothing but adversity for 3 years.

People tried to downplay the PS3 because it didn't have good sales even tho it always had good games and now has great games. The failure in your argument is that PS3 not having good sales didn't stop it from having good/great/amazing titles and now it seems PS3 is also getting better sales.

And xbox360 has good/great sales and...uh xbox live brings in MS alot of money to...uh get back to you when figuer that out.

You "can't play sales" with teh waggle. A regular gamepad is perfectly capable of playing "teh sales game", though.
