Ps3 dropped its price from 599 to 399.Why hasnt Xbox360 have a major price drop?

Are they waiting tell 2008 to do this. Im pretty sure they can afford to drop the price of the threre console.

Any ideas?

cuz 360 isnt struggling to make a dime ATM...sony however is...there soo called 100mil user base got to them thinking everyone would buy thier console not matter the cost/propaganda...which turns out that all ps2 owners were CasualsLinKuei_warrior

IMO, if they released a Singstar for PS3, that would sell VEEEERY well. Isnt that one of Sonys money making Faranchsies?

The PS3 dropped the price of the 60 gig to clear out the stocks and replace it with the 80 gig SKU. Then they lowered the price of the 80 gig PS3 after they released the 40 gig stripped down SKU for budget shoppers.

Exactly the oppisite. Microsoft is desperate to turn a profit on the 360 and their huge defect rate has forced them to maintain the same price.

I'm surprised people are defending MS. You claim Sony's PS3 price drop is desperate and it probably was, but who cares? It's a better price for consumers now, and you're defending MS for keeping their price high? Why?

The OP is more than right. They could have had a price drop ages ago if they wanted. Anyway, I think they're keeping it for 2008 when GTAIV arrives.

I don't. That's the point. None of us here work at MS, Sony, or Nintendo, so I don't see why you'd defend their actions to keep the price high.

Corection sony dropped the price from 599 to 499 on one and 499 to 399 on the other, but also took things out of the console to make them cheaper. Microsoft dropped from 399 to 350 but added hdmi and two games with their console...pretty good deal if yo ask me.

Because it wasnt needed the price didnt start out ridiculously high and it has great games to sell the system

No. But we are replying to the OP's question based on a buisness POV. Not the consumers.

Because 399 is all it was actually worth in the first place. Did they give each customer who paid 599 a good will gift like MS did when they dropped the price of the Xbox? I got £115 worth of games and a controller.

They did, and it didn't ever chart on any of the european software charts. Singstar is a game people buy for a $200 console, not a $400 one.
