The PS3 is more popular in the UK than probably any other country in the world. They're huge Sony fanboys over there so the fall off is probably even worse in other countries.Â
i live in the UK and everyone just loves SONY they dont even care about any other system, trying to persuade others that the 360 is better is like talking to a brick wall, it because the PS2 was such a big sucess.

Here is another report "It may have enjoyed an excellent first week in the UK, but the PS3's second week in Blighty has proven to be a rather more galling experience, with official Chart Track data revealing that sales of the console have dropped by 82 per cent. The figures are taken from 90 per cent of the UK's software retailers." Figures werent taken from all retailers, but then again, I doubt the othter 10% of reatialers would change it much.

No..........because a CONFIRMED and RECORD 165,000 units were were sold last week. You expect that level to remain constant the second week? That would be 330,000 units. Kinda hard when there were only 220,000 shipped.

It was the same here (the Netherlands)Â last gen (with ps2). But right now it seems the popularity of Sony declined. Every day I still see PS3s sitting on store shelves. So much for Sony-Land.

ya i know i came to that conclusion as well.. but remember this..we're currently in a drought..bunch up all the numbers from all t he countries in europe and you have quite a decent number of sales during a drought. Another thing is that such a huge drop back is expected after every launch..maybe not so soon but expected none the less. Lastly, europeans seem to favor the ps3 compared to other consoles, so it makes you think how MS and Nintendo are currently doing as well during this 82% drop. We cant say how bad it is until we can compare the ps3 numbers to the competition numbers.
of course sales are gonna drop the 2nd day. its like when new movies are released, they make a crazy amt. the first week, then ticket sales go down every week...
Im glad the Wii sales have never dropped 82%. In fact, i dont know if they have every dropped at all But anyway, as the great Phil Harrison once said, "We like store shelves full of PS3's because every empty shelf is another person who will go home empty handed." Or was that some other Sony exec? I mean, they all seem to make the same dumb statements? Aw, its prolly Phil.
