PS3 exclusives not worth the hype?

PS3 exclusives deserve the hype they are for the most part awesome games. There are some duds like Socom Confrontation and Socom 4, MAG. Sony is doing alot better than MS in the exclusives department. MS is so arrogant now that they feel like they can just rehash the same four exclusives( Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable) and some kinect junk and they are golden. But hey if MS fanboys are happy with mulitplats and the same excusives every year thats them.

Don't get me wrong, I love my PS3, but it's like an ugly duckling or something. I expected so much from those games and they delivered only moderate enjoyment.

UC2 was fine, but didn't blow me away like I expected. The climbing took care of itself most of the time and the shooting was just like Gears of War, only not as focused or as intense. I would've loved to see some complex puzzles, but apparently that would be too much for the casual audience the game was aiming for. 'Challenge them with shooting because that's what CoD does, but by god, don't make them think!!!' I hate that! It was a fantastic game in many ways, but I can't help but view it as a missed opportunity. My favourite part was just walking around that Himalayan vilage. That's the only time I felt a connection with what the devs were trying to do. But if pushed, I can't deny it, Uncharted 2 was great in its own limited way. 8.5/10.

Heavy Rain was a mess. I loved it in a way, but the loose ends were a great disappointment to me. In the end, the story amounted to nothing much at all and the killer was completely arbitary. There's no way to work out the mystery for yourself because the game cheats like the worst Agatha Christie novels (and I love good Agatha Christie novels)... 8.5/10 for Heavy Rain and Agatha Christie!

MGS4... good god, the story was horrible. What I loved about the past MGSs was that Snake/Raiden was just a pawn in a huge conspiracy he couldn't fully understand. He kept uncovering further levels of treachery, and it was always pretty damn intriguing despite being poorly written (which it always was). Above all, it was a noir mystery. In MGS4, everything was disappointingly clear all along. Liquid was the only true villain. The bosses were phoned in. Dialogue was embarrassing. The plot was disturbingly generic. It completely lacked inspiration. How can anyone defend it :(? No way did it deserve a 10. THAT'S A FACT :P.

I like PS3 more than 360. It has free online, a free wireless adapter, BluRay, no need for a remote while watching DVDs, and better exclusives. But damn, most of my fun was on XBox...

By the way, I LOVED Gears 1, but couldn't care less for Gears 2. The first was tough and loveable. The second was like a fancy Hollywood sequel and I despised it a little. I'm just like that. An arty farty bastard or whatever. I HATED the 'Dom's wife' storyline in the sequel.

Oh oh, I only just got my PS3 in the last couple of months, so it's no surprise I've only played 3 exclusives.

Ps - Sorry for the horribly written post. I'm a bit tired. Just think of it as 'stream-of-consciousness' crap.

By the way, has anyone read Ulysses by James Joyce? My favourite book of all time :).

I've played 3 well regarded PS3 exclusives now, and none have lived up to expectations.

Heavy Rain struggled under the weight of David Cage's pretentions, and in the end collapsed into utter nonsense and a mass of unresolved loose ends (just like Fahrenheit did all those years ago). David Cage might be a gaming visionary (in his mind), but his lofty ambition to create an interactive movie worthy of Hollywood far outstrips his rather modest plotting and design abilities.

Uncharted 2 was very pretty and smooth, but ultimately so shallow in its mechanics and so thin in its storytelling that it's unlikely to be remembered for anything other than the lovely environments and nice animations.

MGS4 had solid gameplay, but the dialogue and plot were just embarrassingly bad, even for this medium. Most of the cutscenes were laughable or simply cringeworthy, and that's a big problem in a game so reliant on story and non-interactive sequences for impact. The weakest MGS game by a long way.

All these games were overhyped to nth degree by the rabid fanbase and an over-enthusiastic, dishonest gaming press. The perfect score MGS4 got on this site has to go down as one of the biggest outrages GS has ever commited upon the unsuspecting gaming public. For shame.

I'm gonna take a break from PS exclusives now and play some of those ever reliable multiplats. The next exclusive on my list is Yakuza 4, and that better live up to its reputation or I'm gonna be really mad :x.

PS -Xbox just wins the war. PS3 is logically better in almost every way, but why is it that I have more fun playing games on Xbox? It's just weird...

Being on these forums you cant blame him all you hear about is how great they are ive also played all three of those titles i thought heavy rain was the worst of the bunch and mgs4 was the worst of the series. Uc2 was a good game but its multiplayer didnt have that lasting appeal but of course this is all my opinion.

IMHO and from my experience, i somehow agree, there aren't really that many PS3 exclusives that interest me, so far i only have Valkyria Chronicles and MGS4 and i love this games, but other than that, not really, i'm not interested in Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, Twsited Metal, etc.

Being on these forums you cant blame him all you hear about is how great they are ive also played all three of those titles i thought heavy rain was the worst of the bunch and mgs4 was the worst of the series. Uc2 was a good game but its multiplayer didnt have that lasting appeal but of course this is all my opinion.

Uncharted 2 certainly lived up to to its expectations sorry to tell you that its the game that is what make me a very proud owner of a PS3.

Eh, it's called trend analysis, and it's one way to see how things are looking for the future. You could say it's an arbitrary date, but its the year MGS IV came out, which is seen by most people as the turning point in the ps3's performance.

I've been disappointed by a few of them. MSG IV (not a 10), Ratchet & Clank (repetitive and boring), Killzone 2 (Story didn't keep me interested, was still fun at times) and GT5 (incomplete game with incomplete features). Still there have been a few decent games like Valkyrie Chronicles, Heavy Rain, Infamous, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted (1 & 2) & MLB The Show.
