Is my system about to poop out on me? I've had it about 6 months now, and the fan seems to be getting loud and very warm to the touch. Is this normal or should I be concerned? I'm thinking of just stopping gaming all together cause I can't afford to replace systems. I'm scared to switch to the 360 cause Ive heard they have issues too. What should I do? Suggestions?

If any console this gen is prone to heating and breaking issues, its the PS3. Sell it immediately in favor of a 360. /thread

I hope that's a joke, IIRC the 360 breaks down a lot more than the PS3.

my ps3 was being loud for awhile and just recently i got the yellow light of death. I've heard that CoD:WaW can crash some 60 gig versions. I dunno if thats true or not but i just sent it in to be repaired.

Did you buy it from Gamestop? Ask the manager there what they can do. Otherwise call Sony!

Make sure it's well ventilated. Don't keep it in a confined space.

Clean the vents with compressed air or a vacuum. It's most lkely it's dusty and air can't get in or out.

its normal. after the 60 gig ps3`s they are all a little warmer. 2 80 gig ps3s that my friends had. even got so hot the game disc would be warm to the touch. my 60 gig doesnt get hot at all just a little warm on the side. but mine seems to be losing its sound playback. sometimes i have to turn my ps3 off and on to get sound.

Yeah, always a horrible idea to seek honest advice from SW.... Back to your dilemma, PS3s come with a 1 year warranty. If you feel the system has a legitimate issue, contact support by phone or online and see about getting it serviced.
