Reviewers have a much larger task at hand. Reviewers do not review a game on simply whether THEY like it or not, more so on whether the public will like it or not. These certain reviewers failed to do so yet instead push their own bias propaganda on the public. Especially GameDaily, in their Review of R2 you could tell that they were itching to blert GoW2 is better! the whole time. And they did right at the end.

Heavenly Sword has a 79 metacritic average when the game should really be somewhere around an 8.8

Uncharted has a 8.8 average where it should be somewhere around a 9.5

RFOM averages as a 8.6 when those who played it put it somewhere around a 9.3

Reviews are meant to lead the average consumer in the right direction on what is worth buying over something else. This is their purpose do you not agree? Hardcore gamers like you or I, ppl who surf gaming forums are much more informed on a game's significance. We are highly knowledgable of the games we are interested in already and do not need to hear it from a word of mouth reviewer(to an extent).

Yet common/casual consumers are not that knowledgeable of games before a review tells them. If a review says the game is bad or that it does not compete with other games they will not buy it. As hardcore gamers we are better at making these decisions for ourselves.

My point is....
The hardcore gamers who already knew about these games, and regardless of the media giving it low scores, knew better and still got these games. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the casual game buyer. They missed out on the opportunity because the reviews said otherwise.

This is why I cannot tolerate shifty reviews that in return hinder the success of the game and it's developers.

You ever wonder why gamers are satisfied with Fable 2's reviews? Its because they were fair to the game. Most gamers actually AGREE with the scores given to it.

Then you have PS3 exclusives, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Resistance , R2, etc. These games got bad reviews yet for some reason the general public LOVES these games. THey actually sold over a million copies to bode Greatest hit status. So if these games are selling that means they are actually good in contradiction to what the reviewers said. Does that not make the reviewers wrong? The ranking of games is to show which games are worth buying. These games have proven to be worth it so what is the deal?

Bias!Good ol fanboy centric bias, thats what.

HS is an 8.0 here , 80 at gamerankings .... that seems like quality to me. That doesn't seem to be average at all.

Heavenly Sword and Uncharted have no multiplayer which usually knocks a game's review score down a point or two...

The bias of which you speak isn't so much against PS3 as it is against games (in general) that ship without online multiplayer.

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say when games like RFOM and HS came out there was not exactly alot in the way of games for the PS3. I know I bought both games simply to have something to play.

The problem with reviews is that games are reviewed upon the first impressions. We truly know how good a game is in retrospect. In that sense, this whole rating thing is moot.

Yeah, ture it was a bad game. But since it had the PD name and it got great reviews. Well it did here I don't know about any other place. Most people impusled and bought the game without knowing much about it.

I believe you can rate down a game if it just happens to be a game in which putting an MP mode would make sense. Uncharted is not one of those games.

I think most of those games sold well because they were some of the very few games that were available during the PS3's launch. So it was kinda by default.......you buy a console, you have to have games. I think that the scores were justified, but they sold well because of the lack of viable alternatives. Had those games been released this year with all the great games the PS3 has, the would be overlooked.

I also believe in ps3: year one.. reviewers were expecting that big difference between ps3 and 360 exclusives... and Uncharted was definitely underated by GS.. it was one of the best if not the best game on the ps3.. exclusive or not in 07.

I disagree, Uncharted can have a well integrated multiplayer just like Gears. I'm hoping the sequel will follow suit.

It could, but it doesn't need one. Gears of War needs one, Resistance needs one, Halo needs one. Uncharted, Tomb Raider they don;t need one (Not saying it's not possible) Even Metal Gear Solid didn't need one.

dont worry about reviews so much. if you really like a game than thats good and you should keep playing it. reviews are only for the idiots in systems wars to argue endlessly about stuff that doesn't matter.

I hate when people dimiss a game because it's not "AAA"

I play games that aren't a even an "A" according to Gamespot like Mercs 2, Army of Two and had hella fun:)

I would be missing out on a lot of games if I only played "AAA" games

It's things like this that are slowly killing this generation of consoles. Games don't NEED online. Especially on consoles. Leave the online to PCs they do it better. Always have and always will.

uncharted was very underrated... i think most people have accepted that.

Heavenly sword and R1 were however not particularly amazing. good, but not fantastic.

Some reviews for R2, however, are Very unfair. You see some reviewers picking on minor things like the story not being as clear as the last game. at the same time, IGN said about gears: No real story, basically same as the last game, better graphics... and then gave it 9.5?

Seriously??!?!?

Real gamers give games their own scores. It is why we have opinions and it is why we have user reviews. You know those things that you fanboys use to try and make a game look worse than it is? Yea those.

One review complained about the fact that there is no weapon wheel for R2. Because a weapon wheel when you can only have 2 weapons makes so much sense.

You don't speak for all of us. I own/owned all three of those games, beat resistance: 9.0

Beat uncharted: 8.0 (mainly due to the fact that i beat it on hard in 6.5 hours, and the gameplay is pretty darn repetative)still fun though

Heavenly sword: Just got it about a week ago, and although i agree it could be underrated, if the game really is about 6 hrs the 8.0 or so ish scores it recieved seem completly justifyable to me.

Have you played uncharted? Because if it takes you 10 hours to beat that game you must not be very good at video games.

And yes i played it on hard and tryed to find as many artifacts as i could.

on normal the game MIGHT last you 7hrs.........but to do that you would have to die ALOT

Uncharted had a mediocre shooting engine, mediocre gameplay... great graphics, no multiplayer. 8,5 would be absolute max to give this game. 8,0 is nothing to whine about. HS, good but too short. RFOM, i think 8,5 is actually overrated, it was a mediocre FPS with generic online, but it was PS3 only release game that was worth playing, that`s why it sold so much. Compare it to COD4 (9.0), Resistance doesn`t come close, 0,5 is way too little between these 2 games, should be a full point.

After MGS4 getting a 10 cows should be happy and thankful for all eternity.

[QUOTE="grimhope"]And just for the TC's information, Heavenly sword DID NOT SELL MILLIONS of copys. In fact it sold LESS THAN HALF A MIL, which is why sony already anounced that there would be NO SEQUAL. GranReyUno

What are you talking about? It sold over a million copies.

Guess you don't always speak the truth.

Nice one. This is the first time i have actually been totally owned on SW. I could have sworn less than 6mth ago I read on gamespot that HS had sold less than 400,000 copies. I am right about the announcment that there would be no sequal though.

I accept my full ownage and bow to you're superiority

They sold over a million because they were the best games on the system at the time, but when they are reviewed they are compared games on all systems. Thats why they got the scores that they did.

its ok the fact is that the game no matter how good and short it was did not recover its cost and there will be no seconds because of its high costs

BECAUSE there is such a thing as a real living world outside of system wars where gamers actually pick up games without......(gasps).........without checking back if a game scored the hype level from a bunch of fanboys in order to be a good game.......
