Tons of Great Multiplats. Check... but they look just as good if not better on the 360, which makes the "superior" power of the PS3, well not so superior. When a console that costs half as much is getting the same games, some of which look better, makes you wonder why you'd spend $400 on a PS3.
Great First, second, third party exclusives. Not a major check here, considering some of the biggest games from Sony's past have gone multiplatform. Grand Theft Auto, Tekken, Ace Combat, Final Fantasy, and now Way of the Samurai, Sony is losing alot in this area though they do have some good games coming up.
Sexy looking upcomming exclusives. Check, but Microsoft has a great lineup as well, so its going to take alot more than a few good games to get Sony back in this one.
Sexy looking upcomming multiplats. Check, but once again I'd like to point out that the supposed weaker console has the games that look just the same as the PS3 version, if not better.
Great PSN games. Check, but XBLA arcade is sporting some great games as well, especially housing games like Braid which was up for GOTY, I didn't see any PSN titles on that list.
My point is that sales do play a major factor in what comes to the PS3 and what stays on the PS3. Developers are less likely to support a console that is struggling in sales than a console that is selling out constantly. Just look at the Wii, which now exclusively has some of Japan's best selling games like Monster Hunter 3 and DragonQuest X. Sales may not matter to you, but from a business stand point they matter alot, and when the PS3 doesn't sell, you'll see more games like Way of the Samurai suddenly go multiplatform.
My next issue is that the Xbox 360 has games that look just as good as its PS3 counterpart, and now games that were built from the ground up with the PS3 in mind are being ported over to the 360 which ends the idea of "it can only be done PS3." Final Fantasy XIII was never built with the 360 in mind, but its being ported over and Square has already said you won't be able to tell the 2 versions apart.
Then you have Bluray which creates a whole other issue considering HDTVs aren't in majority of homes yet, and in places like Japan they've just started to catch on and take its part in the market. Sony banked on something that required something else to take off, and though HDTVs have been selling well, they just recently caught up to production of SDTVs. Also most households out there have an SDTV, so the idea of selling a good Bluray player to most is out because they won't get the most out of it.
Sales do matter, no matter how much you try to pretend otherwise, and its already showing that Sony is hurting this generation, with major exclusives slipping away and Sony picking up next to nothing from Microsoft, its not hard to see this and realize Sony could be in some serious trouble if they don't turn it around soon.
