PS3 is going to get beaten pretty badly this fall

I had high hopes for the PS3 given its price cut.but it looks as if all the 60GB model stocks are running out. This would normally not be such a problem but the fact is once the machines run out the PS3 is effectively 600 dollars again (With a crap game).

This is a pretty big deal if you consider the relative lack of big hitters on the system this fall and the fact that the 360's new model now has HDMI as standard and and is free from breaking down. This model has also received a price cut making it 350 dollars (almost half the price of the PS3). Unlike the PS3 it also includes a HD AV cable and headset as well.

If you factor in the 360's tendancy to get superior multiplatform titles and its superior 2007 software lineup then you can see why the PS3 is in trouble this year, and i havent even mentioned the giant that currently rules over the videogame industry (the Nintendo Wii). Things are not looking good for PS3 at all this year

I like how people are ignoring the fact that the Ps3 has 4 more official years left,hasn't been out for a year,hasn't had it's big titles released yet,has more than 2 AAA games and plenty of AA games,has price cuts coming,and Blu-ray has been successful because of the console. But,it's only one Season that matters right.Dualshockin

That's beside the point. Sony NEEDS to do well this year in order to instill confidence in third parties. It doesnt say much for them when they get their ass kicked by the Gameboy Advance (as is likely to be the case this fall). The price cut gave them a boost but one month of mediocre sales will not save them, and come 2008 it could be too late

Oh well, I guess I'll make due with Unreal Tournament 3, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Uncharted, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, and all the multi-plats. Maybe next year, eh?Slashkice

Ok...so the PS3 might not be able to compete all that well with Halo 3 (even though UT>Halo imo). In a couple years from now the 360 will be dead anyway. Blu Ray will win the war and the PS3 will probably come in 2nd place only to the Wii. And MS will drop the 360 just like it did the Xbox, meanwhile i'll be enjoying my PS3 for years to come.luggymeister

The blu ray/hd dvd war is pointless. They're never going to replace DVDs for the majority of people. They are both flops

I think the ps3 is going to see a nice pricedrop in Europe before the year is up and that is going to put it ahead of the 360 in that territory. Estimates have it ahead on a weekly basis already.It is already beating it in Japan and will continue to do so. The 80 gigs will go down to $500 and any 60 gigs left will get reduced further. As for multiplatform titles , they aren't going to make a big difference to people when making a decision between 2 consoles. They pretty much know what they want, it is just a matter of how to get mommy or daddy to spend $500 on them.

I think Sony will have a lot to offer this year and a lot to advertise which is going to get the ps3 more exposure. I am sure we will be seeing Heavenly Sword , Ratchet and Clank , and Uncharted television ads and all kinds of internet ads for all kinds of games. The release of Home could get a lot of people talking about the console as well as getting GT5 prologue for free ! People might get a little more educated about blu-ray too to at least show people why the console is so expensive.

In conclusion , the ps3 should be ok. It probably won't do great but I think it will do as well as the 360 worldwide at least.

In every single console generation, the system that was the clear winner in the first year after all the systems were launched went on to become the clear winner for the entire generation. At this point, the winner is all but decided.
