MGS on the PSX used two CDs. Why is using multiple discs impossible with MGS 4?Â
[QUOTE="munu9"]A game needs to sell about 500k for the game to start making profit. Resistance has already sold about 500,000. MGS4 should be able to sell at least a million by the time it's out and at least 2 million within about a year of it's release...Firelore29
Did you just completely make that crap up? Show me a link where it says that a next gen game will break even at about 500k sold. If your going from a last generation link then you might want to rethink that. It takes a small fortune to produce a game this generation.
500,000 x $60 = 30,000,000. 30 Million seems like a reasonable budget for most next gen games.
it's an exaggeration to assume they won't make any profit at all on the PS3. they are selling, and games for it are in high demand. don't assume no one is buying itMordred19
Just don't assume that anyone is buying it in numbers equal to the Wii or 360 either...

You've completely left out retailer profit, among other things. If development costs alone mean the game is going to cost $60/unit does that mean that the retailer is going to put it on their shelves out of charity? Best Buy, Walmart and Target don't do anything for free.Â
If your game costs $20-$30 million to make and you make it only for the PS3, you won't be making profit. Its sales aren't doing as good as they can, and it probably will not sell enough by 2008 to assure developers they'll make profit. If they don't make enough by 2008, then big developers won't support it anymore. The stronger Xbox 360 becomes, the more confident developers are making their games exclusive on the 360. Same goes for the Wii.Do you actually believe all that crap? Seriously, you just told us how it's gonna go down as if you know what you're talking about. Sorry, but you don't. If it wasn't safe to make exclusives for a system, there probably wouldn't be an MGS 4 or Heavenly Sword etc. It's amazing how many marketing experts we have here in system wars. lol
Will the PS3 sell enough to make profit for games like MGS 4? If it doesn't sell enough then Kojima might consider making it multiplatform, and that's ONLY if it doesn't sell well. If big games don't make enough money, then I don't think any developer will ever make it exclusive. If Sony doesn't prove themselves soon, only 1st party titles will be exclusive on their console.

As far as Wii is concerned, it's doing phenominal. It's sold 4 mil + units in record time because of the cost and the Wiimote. I can gurantee you that if the WIi cost $400 that it wouldn't be selling nearly as many. Plus, given that the Wiimote is the main controler for the system, this basically means that 90% of the games comming for the Wii will be exclusive. Dont let your fanboyism shine through so clear next time.

[QUOTE="peaceful_anger"]yes you are.... I can assure you I am no cow. I am 100% sheep at the moment, and soon to be 30% lemming. OMG I must be sick cause I'm actually defending the cows and the PS3. But seriously, I just can't stand how lemmings are acting right now.I swear!!! You lemmings act like the PS3 should have come right out of the gate and sold 10 million in its first day, and since it obviously didn't, all their top exclusives are going to go multiplat. Please!!! The only reason it looks like the PS3 is doing bad is because the wii is doing so much better, and like someone has already stated, the PS3 is selling better than the 360 did this time last year, and it really doesn't matter if lemmings bring up the fact that the 360 wasn't readily available till March because the PS3 is still selling better and could possibly reach 10 million units sold in a lesser time frame than it took the 360 to reach 10 million, heck even the wii will reach 10 million in a lesser time frame. And that right there will show developers that the PS3 still has a very good following. And no I'm not a cow.

If its true that making a game for one console actually costs you money then why are there any third party exclusive games at all? Think about it.echelonIt's actually expensive to go multi-plat than staying exclusive. Some fans don't understand the business side of gaming.

MGS and MGS2 on the PC were a downright nightmare to play without a joypad.
