I had no clue PS3 turns 5 today but yup its official the PS3 been out for 5 years :o!

My List:

PS3 was my first current gen console and im glad i got this amazing system, it introduced me to so many good things from good games to even good friends.

Some of the best games i ever played this gen thanks to the PS3 ( Going to list only 3 tbh too lazy to post more lol ):

1) Valkyria Chronicles: this game made me fall in-love with stradegy games, one of the best SRPGs you'll ever get to play on a current gen conosle

2) What is more to say about this? its uncharted the biggest and best action adventure you'll ever play

3) If it wasnt for infamous i wouldnt have ever played an open world game, infamous 2 opened my eyes to the open world games.

Cant say there is anything i hate about the system, probably few things like how downloadable games usually always must install or how annoying some features are like data transfer but other than that its been an epic ride since 2007 with this amazing system, Happy Birthday PS3 :oops: :P

Valkyria chronicles being one of the best srpg's of all time... i agree ^_^

amazing exclusives like resistance, uncharted, trinity universe killzone Metal Gear!, and Little big planet couldnt of even made it without playstation!!!

i love the fact that i can play multiplayer games free on PSN

I love games like the uncharted series, infamous, gran turismo 5,

i love the fact i can watch blu-ray.

now what i hate:

a Dashboard that hasn't changed at allsince i've had my PS3

An overpriced PSN store

Loved:

A few great games like LBP, GT5, LBP2.

Brilliant media hub.

Hated: A few bad games, Resistance, Motorstorm, MGS4.

That my first one died out of warranty.

The DS3 and even more so the Sixxaxis.

I have Slim. I don't like that the PS2 compatibility was stripped. I think if Sony marketed that the PS3 could play the ENTIRE Playstation library, it would be leaps and bounds ahead of the xbox. They've made a few mistakes here and there.

The pay-for online is a hurdle to overcome, but it's not all that bad especially with the deals that occur frequently in the marketplace. You can get year-long subs for like $35ish or so, and in the grand scheme of things $35 a year amounts to pennies per day.

I used to spend $180 a year to play WoW, and found it to be totally worth it, so it really just depends on how much you enjoy using the 360 I guess. I'm a big fan of how nice it is to use in comparison to PSN, and as far as I know it has some nifty features that you don't get with the base PSN account (they unlock if you get a PS+ account).

If I get a 360 this holiday I'm considering also getting a Live subscription.

Honestly, I can't believe this generation is 6 years old already. Where the f*** did that time go?

My Ps3 died on me after 4 years and 5 months may it rest in peace :_: gonna buy a new one as soon as I'm done with my finals.

I like the media features. the free online, and a few of the exclusive titles are among my favorite games this gen.

I dislike the overabundance of shooters, the dearth of quality JRPGs, and the often subpar multiplats.

Like: the games (Resistance, Uncharted, Warhawk, Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4, LBP, Folklore, Demons Souls...), bluray, free online.

Dislike: copy protected saves locked to a specific mobo/hdd combo, rather than a specific account/id (made it a pain if you upgraded your HDD, replaced your PS3 with a newer one, or had to send your system in for repair), general lack of support for local/splitscreen multiplayer (all games with online multiplayer should support multiple local players, imo; this is a problematic trend of this gen, and not specifically limited to the PS3).

Hey Finalstar.... surprised MW3 isn't your #1 pick :P

As for my picks:

1. Elder Scrolls V: skyrim (yeah it's new but being 30+ hours in and barley scratched the surface of this epic....it's my game of the gen!!! , and I was afraid it was going to be another Dragon age2..)

2. Valkyria Chronicles... Best Strategy game on the consoles .. I love turn based strat on pc, and this brought jrpg flavor to the mix and added some real time stuff too.

3. MGS4: first game I finished to completion on ps3... If only it had trophies i would of probably had a platinum by now (not gonna get hannah montana or terminator for that sorry ) ... Will try to plat skyrim... (as long as I don't suffer the lag issue from huge saves..so far i have been lag free! knock on wood!)

Like: Exclusive game library, free online, Blu-ray, reliability (still own a working launch PS3), trophies (much prefer completion numbers to gamerscore), HD games+content

Dislike: Slow start (lack of AAA games prior to 2007, no rumble at launch, $600 launch price), persistent maintenance (firmware updates and PSN downtime), inability to change online ID

X360

Like: Superior gamepad (quality wise), XBL services and performance, excellent exclusives+multiplats

Dislike: RROD (replaced my unit under warranty 6 times), noisy fan (not applicable to Slim model, obviously), Kinect, disc tray (dunno why this is still in the Slim design), cost of XBL, memory cards, flip-flop decisions regarding SKUs and later including HDMI and screwing early adopters with a laughable 20GB HDD or none whatsoever (also limited developers somewhat, although it never panned out beyond being just a nuisance)

Wii

Like: Unique approach to game design, Nintendo franchises, cost of peripherials - mainly controllers (less expensive than competition), pack-in game (minor advantage but definitely was enjoyed+appreciated)

Dislike: Complete lack of HD, underpowered specs, terrible online model, awful third party support (particularly multiplats, ports were sloppy and uninspiring), limited set of features, novelty controller, UI is mundane and limiting, lack of new IPs and total reliance on older franchises+game design conventions stagnated gamers' interest (my own, specifically but obviously many others)

Disliked: the first few years.

People forget that at one point the PSN Store was a website, Trophies didn't exist, Rumble didn't exist, XMB wasn't in-game,

Still dislike the sloppay interface; having to sync trophies, install games, etc.

In all honesty Call of Duty goes to be the best FPS i ever played this gen, if it wasnt for CoD4 i probably wouldnt have played any FPSs. so of course its on my list but didnt feel like listing everything, just listed some of the top 3
