Sony really needs a price drop. Everywhere in the world, price matters in terms of market share. No matter what product segment your talking about, the product with a significantly higher cost almost never sells the most.
The thing is, Sony does know business pretty well and this is an elementary business concept - I'm sure they were aware of it when they priced the PS3.
I think they just want to sell 50 million or so PS3's and then reap the benefits of Blu-Ray - without going bankrupt in the process (which could have potentially happened if they priced the PS3 to a reasonable price initially). If they sell more PS3's then that's great for them, but the true benefit here is Blu-Ray getting into households.
of course the wii was going to outsell it its so cheap and japanese school girls love to break a sweat when they play games (nice) but there isnt really anything on the ps3 in japan that was made for that audience with the exception of gundam and virtua fighter, final fantasy and Ninja Gaiden Sigma will change that though. I mean who in japan honestly wants to play nba Homecourt (its still a great game). And besides both consoles already outsold the 360 with its head start( sad_)mcxps3
*Daydreams about a giant Wii with legs being chased around Tokyo by a horde of Japanese people while "Turning Japanese" plays in the background.*
Huh? Uh? Wha? Sorry what did you say? My mind was.... elsewhere.
Thanks captain obvious. -_-Legendaryscmt
your welcome and here is a gold star

Next time all give you two gold stars if you reply with something positive to say.
Games are going to be a big factor in the coming year or two. If the japanese take to Brain Age and other titles like they did with the DS, the Wii could utterly destroy in that region. If they feel that those games are best for on the go, though, the PS3 may just catch up.karicha9
It's beyond that. The PS3 cannot catch up in Japan without a miracle. It can't even get started.
