I believe it can replicate a mouse, it would be a little shaky because its not on a solid platform like a mouse, but precision wise i believe it. The reason i wouldnt want to play an RTS with it or anything is because of lack of keyboard. Even with a sub controler you wouldnt have the organization of a keyboard, let alone the same amount of buttons.

goblaa

Well, as far as a stable platform, use your lap or an arm rest. I can't stand people who hold their arm out and then complain because they're doing something stupid. Never once have I had pointer precision issues in any game, even RTS-ish ones like pikmin.

As for the keyboard...yeah, you're right. The analog stick can 'kinda' make up for it by giving you a wheel of commands to quickly scroll through (think trauma center), and the d-pad can be used as 4 programmable macro buttons, but it's still no keyboard.

well thats the great thing about motion control... there's unlimited buttons. Just assign every quick command to a certain gesture :)

the wii mote can do the same whats the point of this overexaggerating boastin by sony?these little things you point out to apparently have over the wii that doesnt isnt going to make eople by your product try to talk about the games first nobody cares if something is precise on point they want fun games to play once again sony fails to understand the concept of things,...and oh yea please play the move first to say its better then the wii mote it certainly has lag just like the wii mote does

No no no no. Never use waggle in place of a button press. It's just bad design.

A good Wii/Move RTS would use A as your left click, B as your right click, would have a wheel of commands that can be selected with your control stick, would use the c and z buttons for additional camera controls, and would use the d-pad as macro buttons.

You don't need anything more to run a console RTS. Don't even need WM+. RTS games are the kind that get no benefit from 1:1 motion controls.

I love the 180 flip in direction that has occurred with motion controls since Moves Unveiling. Theres actually some kind of twisted beauty to just how easily a persons perception of something can be affected by a company's decisions.

you can get a keyboard for the ps3 just fyi, and also a mouse but i havent seen a game that supports them yet...

Unreal 3 supports keyboard and mouse play on ps3 as well as pc made mods.

It can control Starcraft, but you would get destroyed by anyone playing on KB/M. Hot-keys plus 1-0 squad selection doesn't seem possible with move.

Even if Move is accurate enough to pull off the same role as a standard mouse (and I doubt it: the Wiimote has enough trouble with its IR sensor, and I can't imagine waving your arm around would be particularly comfortable 'round the 20 minute mark), it still only solves half the problem. Controllers simply don't have enough buttons for a traditional RTS to work -- with Move + sub-controller, all you'd get is Halo Wars with slightly better micro at best.

and with natal paint your finger tip hyper color of some sort and pits it up as a pointer, paint 2 fingers one can be right mouse click the other left mouse click, same with Wii mote it can do the same. Its funny that Sony is so happy that they did what In their garage hackers have been doing with the Wii mote, and a bluetooth adaptor and some coding.

lol you're using a fake PS3 trophy board.

Yeah but you should at least have the option to maybe program your 4 - 8 most used commands as quick motion based gestures.

edit: on the nunchuck of course, having it on the wiimote would mess up your aim

Does it really matter? Every point device could run SC, heck..you could even make it run on a pad, it just will never be as good as mouse and KB, which will always be more precise and with bigger ammount of key shortcuts.

Still..why does it even matter? It's not like SC2 will be ever ported to PS3 anyway

And this is surprising how? The wiimote can control starcraft...

goblaa

Move = more precise than wiimote

No it isn't. The move's pointer is actually LESS accurate than the wiimotes, and it's waggle is just as 1:1 as WM+'s.

nice sig. now just make one with a picture of a lemming and a wifi adapter with the price tag of $99.

You are not familiar with technology are you?

Question, what motion tracking method does the film industry use on multimillion dollar special effects based films? The answer is a colored ball. Strange? I think not. Did you know that the Wii is a copy of a 2004 Asian game console called XaviXPort? rather they took their idea of using infrared light for tracking and gameplay that involves movement and exercise.

You see, the camera is actually placed inside the controller, the wiimote and all it does is read those 2 infrared lights on the bar you put above or below the tv. This is NOT accurate, nor is it fast. There is no tracking going on, rather all it does is register x and y values. When programming, you use x and y for movement. Sony's Move on the other hand is built off Camera Tracking technology as seen in their 2004 tech demo which featured...yes...colored balls on a black wand. The camera can register, unlike the wiimote X, Y and Z coordinates. That is much more accurate that the wiimote's built in infrared sensing camera, which is never static.

A message to you personally: "please drop the brand loyalty, it really ends up hurting you the consumer in the end."

touch screens/natal looks most promising as the successor to the mouse... i think people are moving towards "hands-off" technology

I really doubt it could be done because playing an RTS does not just require a mouse to be properly executed. The main point is that Blizzard wont release SC2 on the PS3 or any console.
