id suggest waiting and seeing before you write off the PS3 in the uk sony has far more units available at launch than the Wii or 360 ever did

also if you look at the topsellers on the gaming section of amazon.co.uk you will see the PS3 is second on the list after final fantasy 12 which has just been released here, the PS3 has been there for almost a week now fluctuating between no1 and no2 spots, meanwhile the wii is at 36 and the 360 is at 55

now im not saying that proof its gonna sell loads but if you choose to use an argument like pre-orders not selling out as evidence of a lack of interest in the PS3 then id suggest you look at what i just posted of real proof there is plenty of interest, it might be limited to one site but you cant deny that the bestsellers list doesnt kill your argument

SONY needs to cut the price in half if they wanna target the casual market. Now they're just targeting the hardcore gamers.

link? all i am saying is, wii sold out in 8 minutes in the uk. The ps3 is still plentifull. thats not a good sign. nobody wants it. Anybody buying a ps3 in the uk right now must be a mad man. Ridiculous price, rubbish Backwards compatability (the no. 1 selling point for chavs with ps2's ) it has a very low standard in the community at the moment. Obviously Sony arent going to go bankrupt but seriously , who would buy a PS3 over and xbox 360 and wii combo. The 360 has better graphics and the wii is insane amounts of fun and has better motion control

well your speculating as much as me here. as you dont know how many units the ps3 is shipping either. And seeing as the new ps3 has different specs for the USA and *** version i am presuming they have a very low quantity available for launch. either way, i think we can quite safely say that the interest in no where near the same as the wii.

It looks like I'll be getting a PS3 in 2 years. The only thing that would make me drop the bones for a PS3 was if Rockstar made another Thrasher game. I would buy the PS3 and Thrasher the day the game came out but since the game will sadly never have a sequel, the PS3 is on layaway for another couple of years.

well yes i can, and have, unlike sony drones i have free will to speculate using factual evidence. For crying out loud the PS3 is 2nd in the amazon list....2nd!!!! have you any idea how long the wii was at no.1 for ? 8 weeks, and it would still be there if they actually had any stock to sell. please dont be like these guys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8

I dunno if I can only see it cause I use gamespot UK but there is a front page article written by UK/Australia staff and one of them confirms the pre orders ain't sold out yet. I still see shops taking pre orders infact.

But if you mean the Wii in 8 minutes thing then don't believe that. I had weeks to pre order one in the UK.

amazon sold out in 8 minutes and play.com took 10000 pre oders in 15 minutes (only a small proportion of which they could actually supply (idiots))

"Limited Availability – Due to the high demand for PlayStation 3, availability of the console is very limited. All orders will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis. While we will of course endeavour to get your PS3 to you in time for launch, we cannot guarantee delivery of the console on 23rd March 2007." MOst of shops just keep taking preorders and they fullfill em as they receive units. That quote is from the first link btw. So "ownage approved"? :P

That's called covering your own ass incase things don't go as expected. If they had filled their quota they woul d have stopped preordeers.

Uh, no they wouldnt. Game for example (here in spain) has still wii pre-orders without fullfill. Most of shops just want as many sales as possible. Gamestop spain follows the same method, dont know about uk.

this is worded as such to make people belive they need to act fast to get a ps3 , and if indeed like they say there are limited no.s then why have they still not sold out even with this warning. Even more proof that the PS3 holds little interest to the consumer at this moment

Sigh, you can try twisting it as much as you want. Fact is, most of shops dont take into account how many units they're getting at launch, they simply get as many preorders as they can, then complete em in a first come first served basis. That means that the pre-order option will stay in many shops no matter what. You can mail the customer support and ask how it works, cept for woolworths and few other they wont stop taking preorders. Also, i guess that the comments of woolworths and game stating that ps3 is the "most preordered console ever" and amazon saying that the preorders are doing very well are all lies, cause it dont suit you.

sorry but this isnt proof i dont know why you keep saying it is??just because places still have PS3's to buy is somehow proof of a lack of interest?......a lack of interest doesnt get a console onto amazons bestsellers weeks before launch.....it goes competely against what your saying and im more inclined to believe that than a fanboys theory after all amazon is about the only place were you can guage how the PS3 is doing in relation to other consoles in the EU right now. There was also a report about a month ago from woolworths saying the PS3 has had the highest number of pre-orders of any of the new consoles........so i got woolworths and amazon VS your opinion.......hmmm little interest indeed:roll:

and a link to said article http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/a42660/playstation-3-enjoys-record-pre-orders.html?rss

Wow another person who has checked every single store!!

Link please!!!

you guys, well how about this for a link from your very own beloved gamespot "Stores are being upbeat about the preorders, which remain conspicuously open some two weeks after they were first announced. The Nintendo Wii sold out in minutes when preorders opened back in November here, and there were similar situations with the 360 and the PS2. Without knowing exactly how many consoles have been made available for preorder, it's difficult to say whether the fact that they're still being taken is a sign that Sony has done a fantastic job of making supply meet demand, or whether they're still open because, well, nobody wants one." http://www.gamespot.com/features/6166437/index.html?tag=topslot;title;1 oh dear, i think we can safely say that sony wont be shipping a whole lot, they want to create fake demand as with the ps2, and they cant even do that. On top of that they are shipping new versions of the PS3 to europe so cant ship the huge left overs from the USA Seriously stop defending sony , it makes you seem about 12

wow thats amazing? play.com are basically saying right there that they have sold way over 150000 pre orders for the PS3? that is really good. I cant wait to see the sales figures for the uk come March. They should sell over 2 million in the first day. Totally demolishing the amount they have sold in the USA and Japan put together. ......That is of course unless this is pure bull parp

lol, i guess you have access to play.com wii and 360 preorder data. Dude, ok, whatever float your boat. You're right, play.com, amazon and woolworths are lying, because they're all bribed by sony. Noone have actually bough one.And not selling 1 million consoles in a single day is a total dissaster. sigh /sarcasm

This thread doesn't have any facts or links or anything, but what I know is that if I was living in England right now and I heard all the BS Sony is doing over there then I wouldn't be caught dead buying a PS3.

That's how it is...........no facts no links as always, but I have played one and it was a fine console.............just not worth all that dough. It is good enough on it's own merit so the sony bs wouldn't have stopped me from buying one.But there are alternatives, and I am in the uk!

well over here in sunny sunny england hype isnt exactly booming, whenever the PS3 is mentioned it is instantly insulted, which is no great suprise regarding we have to pay more for less and all the other crap surrounding the PS3, the thing is, and is what in my eyes will save the console from instantly sinking, is the intruige surrounding it. the PS1 and PS2 consoles were excellent which will go in sony's favour, as soon as these people who insult PS3 hear of someone who has pre ordered the machine they want to play it, theres some charm that sony still has that i think will boost sales, their reputation is still high despite MAJORLY messing us up over here. Me personally am waiting for my friend to get his on the 23rd and to play it and see for myself....
but tbh im more than happy with my wii^_^

Given that there are many, many more PS3's coming in than there were Wii's, it's hardly surprising. And Wii pre-orders took about a week to be filled, not as is being claimed, minutes.

There are going to be over 100 units per store. Thats alot of pre-orders to fill.
