[QUOTE="-Spock-"][QUOTE="LoserMike"][QUOTE="Mass_Effect"]

[QUOTE="-Spock-"]120 FPS is impossible on PS3, not to mention useless. Krudus

Well not really. Couldn't a game with really crappy graphics run at 120fps quite easily?

But it'll be useless since HDTVs only refresh at 60fps.

Indeed. Plus I doubt we'll be getting a game looking so crap and the developers supporting both 1080p and 120 FPS at the same time. Most devs are saying 720p is fine for now.

that kind of depends of the TV. samsung and philips hafe a new tech in some of their hdtvs that bumps it up considerably.

That ties in with the motion sickness though. The higher you go the less you can watch before being sick. Seriously, there's no point to it except trying to prove who has the world's biggest tech *****.

[QUOTE="AzelKosMos"]

[QUOTE="console_fanboy"]Sony promised us a lot of things. One of them is Dual 1080p at 120fps.

Now the reality is that most games run on 720 with 20fps, and when theres is a lot happening at once it will get even lower to 10-15fps.

Now once the developers find the hidden power of the cell, do u cows think it would be possible to have dual 1080p at 120fps? Or was it all a BIG lie?
console_fanboy

I haven't heard anything about that. Got any proof? link or anything?

its common knowlegde, its has been all over the internet. Where have u been?

Errm 1. I think sony meant video in dual 1080p, or if they did mean games its prob like Supreme commander  on  pc (having one screen as a very detailed map)
2. It should be possibal to run games at 120fps (not exactly difficult if its a fairly simple game)
3. There are games on PS3 that run at more than 20fps... you clown,

lol, I remember when they said it and the media ran with it like mopes, instead of questioning it. They made the 360 out to be some inferior system and that it would be half as powerful. As we all know, it has turned out alot different than that day Sony was touting dual 1080p support with 120 fps. LOL.

120 FPS is impossible on PS3, not to mention useless. Apparently the eye cannot see more than 60 FPS, and journalists who watched footage at that speed had motion sickness, so it's hardly practical unless you are a raving bulimia sufferer. I do think dual 1080p could be possible though, as most PCs are able to output to two screens. PC gaming has been HD for years now, so it's not an impossible feat.-Spock-
I disagree with 120 FPS is useless. Do you know how improtant frame rates are to Fighting games. If they get, let's say, 90FPS than when a fighter goes online we don't have to worry about the frame droping below 30FPS ( the standard for all fighting games).

dual 1080p at 120fps was of course just a lie, there is no 'hidden power' to the cell, it may be powerful, but it doesnt seem to be able to put up with 2nd-gen 360 games for now.alia999
They took dual 1080p out for the reason most didn't have the use for it. Waste of money. Anything can run at 120 FPS, but you'll be sacarficing a lot of other content to the game like graphics, texture, stuff like that.

Its not necesarrily the total , or high end frame rate that you want. You want a console that can avoid a dip in framerate.
"Choppiness" is almost always caused from a sudden loss in framerate, not a low overall framerate. For example, you will notice no choppiness at all playing a game at a consistant 30 fps or at 60 fps. However, if either of those games hits a "hiccup" and drops suddenly in framerate that is when you get choppiness.

As for the dual 1080p. In the most recent EGM Sony stated "it fell off the radar, probably due to people just not needing it". While I agree that people don't need the feature, I think the simple fact that their machine is not capable of it has alot to do with it also. Remember, Motorstorm was promised 1080p / 120fps... the PS3 cant even deliver that on 1 monitor, let alone 2.

[QUOTE="LoserMike"]It'll take them 5+years. The power of the PS2 wasn't finally fully exploited until God of War (for the longest time the best graphics was MGS2). Remember when the PS2 was first announed with those awesome tech demos, PS2 games have finally reached that level of quality that was promised in 1999. We'll finally see PS3 games that look as good as the Killzone tech demo in 2011. That's the problem with making such a highly powered but complex game machine.Illumination77

MGS2 was never the best looking game on ps2. Its graphics are actually worse then the mgs1 on ps1( MUCH smaller levels, EVERY room needs its own laod screen and almsot no enemies ons creen with you compared to the first game), but the textures are obviously much better.

ummm please dont tell me you just said MGS2 graphics are worse than MGS1! please enlighten me as to how more loading, smaller levels and not many on screen characters = bad graphics?? btw loading took around 1-2 seconds per room, hardly long. and what do you mean hardly any on screen characters? you obviously didnt do the bit on the tanker with all of the marines? and you must have been brilliant at the game and not have been seen once, if so you would have been swamped with guards.

I'm still waiting for something about this 10 - 15 fps.

Seriously, I don't come in system wars often and haven't been paying all that to the Ps3.

i think the tc was just being a fanboy most games run at 30-60fps at 720p/1080p(ridge racer ,gt-hd, marvel ultmate alliance are an examples of 1080p @ 60fps)with some games like call of duty dropping sometimes.. really thoug the only games that preformed poorly where CoD and tony hawk

ps3 will never output 2x1920x1080p at 60fps.

Proof: RSX is 7800gtx @500mhz.

Sli 8800GTX cannot run oblivion at 60fps constant at 2560x1600 (less than 1% smaller screen size)

Thus how can a £400 be more powerful than £800 graphic system considering nVidia designed both?

Aint possible now, wont be possible in 2012.

Most people can't even tell a difference of anything thats over 30fps. And also -- just because this is system wars -- Gears of War fanbois can't tell the difference between 15fps and 30fps. So meh.

The Gears framerate rumor is just that, a rumor. The framerate doesn't even drop on the last level when fighting on a train that is going about 100mph...

Rumor? WTF are you talking about? I've beat the damn game, I have seen with my own 2 eyes that the framerate chugs in many different areas of the game. Good for the framerate not dropping too much on the train...going 100mph means nothing when the environment is 1 big blurry mess and they're only throwing 2 enemies at you at a time. The area where you come back to from picking up the first vehicle is 1 constant 15-20fps fest.
