Okay, serious now.:
PSn has decent speed (downloading of updates could be a bit faster, but eh, you can't get everything, can you? ). In terms of lag, it depends on the game. On Call of Duty 4 for PS3, I lagged a lot. But I lagged the same amount when I played on the 360. Whereas Killzone 2, I pretty much never lag. It all depends on the netcode.

[QUOTE="KevinButlerVP"]Its just the lems trying to justify what they pay every monthRespawn-dpretty much this Seriously now?
You need to understand that PSn was trash, and I mean dog **** from when PS3 launched until Summer 2008 (or whenever the 2.4 update released). Seriously, I couldn't even reply to a message (or even read it for that matter) or add a friend, when in game, unless it was a game in the select few category, like Resistance.
That is why you see lemmings trash on PSN. Right now? Yes, it's fanboyism, but XBL is still superior to PSN. Just not as much as lemmings make it to be.
If you doubt this, then look at cows whenever XBL features are rumored to come to PS3. Without those features, cows claim "it's okay... we don't need cross game chat. not worth $50 a year..." And when it's rumored for PS3 (wasn't it supposed to be included in the most recent update? or was it the one before that? I lost track), you see cows jumping in with "lawl we got cross game chat. it matters now!"
[QUOTE="Strider_91"]PS3 fanboys moan about the price of XBL that is all.. Xbox fanboys moan about a lot of the features in comparison... Probably something to do with that. Persistantthug
I admit to having a bias that favors the PS3....but the PRICE of XBOX LIVE isn't what I abhor....it's having to pay at all.
It makes absolutely no sense to me at all. I paid $60 for BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY 2 primarilly for the MULTIPLAYER....Dice put that feature in to work by default. Why do I have to pay again? Why?
XBOX LIVE is a rip off and I will never buy a subscription to play random games online....never, and it isn't price, its general principle.
I agree with this. However, if it becomes 1 cent per day or something maybe I'll just suck it up :P Live is the superior service, but it's price is not justified. (IMO) I'll admit this: now that the RRoD has been largely reduced with the newer models, the ONLY thing that keeps me from buying a 360 is the aforementioned "principle". I simply do not support this uncanny P2P thing. If only people would stand up to it like PC gamers with G4WL. MS's strategy has been clear, make games cathered toward MP, release console earlier, roll people in, which will bring those people's friends in, and HEAVILY focus on online play. This creates a "magical" environment where you're almost addicted to it. No matter how many times your 360 RRoD, you will suck it up because all your friends have one, and you all paid for Live to play with each other with most of your games focusing on the online. Also, admit it or not, but the fact that Live is P2P makes people want to play their 360s more. They feel that they must get the worth out of their money. Now, I'm not sure that I support this general approach, but overall, MS did do a few good things. Good single player games are very abondant on the 360 too.not everyone takes a while to dl files my demos take less than 5 mins if it's under 350mb and the update took me approx 10 mins, its all about connection and speed my friend I get 6-9mbpsPSN is just slow when downloading demos and updates. It's a pain in the rear to watch a 350MB file take 15-20mins to download on PSN and they have to wait another 5-10 mins for it to install as well. With XBL, you can download the same file in about 10mins or less and it doesn't have to do an install. The PSN updates for the PS3 are even worse. I still haven't update my PS3 with the latest version, after all the problems it cause. I'm going to wait a few more weeks and then try it. I also like XBL interface system better then PSN as well. Does anyone still use HOME? What a waste of time.

My only problem with PSN is what happens to the people that buy the games? Not sure how many copies MAG has sold, but it has to be more than 10k that play at peak hours. Killzone 2 has been under 2k people for months. I know those aren't unique users but more people should be playing than that!
Maybe it'll increases after the exams  Anyway, my post included my belief that 360 users play more online because they feel that they must put that 40$/year to use in addition to a strong focus on multiplayer on 360 exclusives. MAG is becoming a niche thing with it's own community, now that most of the pros are all leveled up and rocking, it's becoming harder and harder for newcomers to make a place for themselves. That's usually what happens. Maybe if they could nerf SVER even more :P KZ2 online is awesome, but let's admit that the majority of the community left for BFBC2 or MW2 (even for UC2). There is just too much of a saturation in the FPS market, not to mention the fact that it requires great amount of skill to aim. This drove many people off at it's release. The community never really recovered from it.My only problem with PSN is what happens to the people that buy the games? you both and the other 25 million can justify your answer all you want but the fact is. your paying for something everyone gets for free...why are u paying again? that cheap 40-50 can easily go to another game to add in your collection but your both too busy throwing cash as M$ (for no real reason) to see that.....Microsoft have been doing online gaming Far, Far longer than SONY of course it's going to be faster and more streamlined, anybody that thinks SONY can Match in 5 minutes what MS has been perfecting for years is completely deluded, which, people seem to forget that MS created the first universal web browser, XBL may be a paid subscription, but it IS faster than PSN, it IS more streamlined than PSN and it DOES have more features than PSN, that makes XBL better to anyone with a reasonable amount of common sense, stuf you get free is never as good as the stuff you pay for, Period, you get what you pay fordelta3074
There, I disagree with alot of your premise. Is XBL faster than PSN? Not with online GAMEPLAY it isn't....not when XBOX LIVE uses mostly P2P and much of PSN uses moreDedicated servers...so that "you get what you pay for" theory goes right out the window, because only SOME aspects of XBL are better than PSN...not all.
Overall, though, even though I'm a PS3 fan, I will give the edge to XBL, because I'm a reasonable person. Yes, XBL is SLIGHTLY better than PS3 because of a few extra features, but it isn't LIGHTYEARS better.
Btw...some of those extra XBL features like CROSS GAME CHAT, I find useless....mostly for teenage teeny boppers...but we'll save that for another time.

on the people saying PSN is slow on downloads what you forget to factor in is ISP's actually can drop your bandwidth allowances at peak times if they see fit.So everyone has share and decent speeds on the network.
Heck MGS 1 only took around 5min to download on my console but i did download it a bit later on at bout 9pm.Its not necessarily the PSN at fault in some cases but more the end users connection.

Or how about people who communicate in team based games, like Socom, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, the list goes on. And you think private chat is a plus when trying to play team based games? My buddy says on xbL its hard to do anything team based on BC2 now because of party chat, everyone is in their on little world and not communicating outside of their own little group. SOE has been doing online games on the pc for a long time aswell. Not only doing games online but also running MMO games online with huge amount of players so don't waste your time thinking Sony doesn't know what its doing as far as the gaming side goes. Maybe MS has interface down, but as far as straight online gaming performance, Sony holds its own.
My favorite thing to hear 360 fans say is that they can d'l a 2 gig game/demo/video in 5-10 min, but on ps3 it takes at least 24 hours.
Pug-Nasty
Let me ask you something. Do you own a 360? Because if you did you would know this to be the truth instead of laughing and assuming that all 360 owners are delusional. Of course saying it takes 24 hours may be an exaggeration but you get the picture.I have an EXTREMELY fast connection with fiber optic verizon FIOS on a WIRED connection. Having a speedy connection like that makes downloading 2gig files over Xbox Live the rule NOT the exception. It's just amazing that with the same speedy connection when I download something on PSN it's as slow as a turtle moving in mud.
It's actually quite embarrassing for Sony because the difference is that bad. I can't tell you how many times I had to leave the PS3 while I waited for the download to finish to go do something else that by the time it finished downloading I was no longer interested in even playing on the PS3 anymore...NO JOKE. My day can get pretty busy once in a while so I don't have time for bulls***! It's the LITTLE THINGS like this that just adds up why I gladly pay the 3 bucks and change per month for LIVE and another reason why most of my gaming time is on the 360.
So please stop with this whole "it's your internet/network causing problems" because that's just insulting my intelligence.
yeah, i've never really figured that out. playing online on PSN works great, but for some reason, updates and downloads for me on the system are slooooow. don't know why. internet speed is great, both my 360 and PS3 are wired to the modem. otherwise, as far as just online play goes, they both do fine. i prefer the XBL interface and chat function, but that's just my preference.PSN is just slow when downloading demos and updates. Used to, sold it. Your FIOS connection is not the rule, but the exception. Most people don't have internet speeds that fast, or even available to them. I'm stuck with Road Runner, which sucks, until Verizon gets their butts out here.
I get really good speeds, considering my connection (which is about 15mbs/s) and can't complain. I've also DMZ'd my ps3, so there's no firewall crap blocking it. I had some issues with it before that, but after figuring that out everything was good.
From what I understand, wiring the connection (which I do) is supposed to make ports not matter, but I find that doesn't seem to be the case for me.
The fact is, the debate about which service is better will never be settled until one can provide more than the other (plus everything the other does) for the same price. Right now you can't pay for cross-game invites/chat on the ps3, and you can't play for free on Xbox Live.
I dont understand why we need to do a DL and a Install when Downloading stuff on PSN. Why cant they just do both at the same time, like Live does? seems ass backwards to me.
Anyway, I dont always play online, but when i do, I perfer Xbox Live.
In fact, I hardly ever play online anymore.
It's just lems justifying to pay. Seriously, that's it. No excuses work. THAT IS FREAKING IT. PC has the best online anyway. :Phexashadow13
PC have access to Internet, same as PS3 and 360, and PS3 can utilize more resources then 360 from it.
Live is only ONE Internet service (some people forgeting that) and force you to pay fo other services ignoring the fact taht those services are free for 360 as hardware with Internet access
