The unfortunate truth for Sony is that Microsoft is more than likely going to accomplish what they set out to do this generation, decrease the huge dominance in market share that Sony owned the last two generations. Microsoft will more than likely also jump the gun on the "next gen" release and continue to try and wear Sony down. It will be interesting to see who's strategy works better in the long run.T_0_D

You are correct. Microsoft's goal this gen was NOT to beat Sony and claim dominance but to take away some of their shares and make a dent in the console market for future wins, and they did JUST that by securing more third party support and snagging a few once Sony exclusive games. Not to mention further cementing LIVE as the better online community for home console gaming.

With Microsoft having the foothold of releasing a new console first the market will bend to their favor of continuing to prove they are equipped and capable to fight off Sony's reign and whittle away at the market. People will want "What's New" and "What's hot" and what's new and hot will be the next Xbox, besides you think PS3 could hold a candle next to the next Xbox in terms of power? It barely does that now and it's supposed to be the superior.

You'd be very surprised. A lot of 360 owners seem to think its clear cut in europe and that MS has it in the bag, whereas my impression is that more and more consumers seem to be getting disgruntled with the repeated hardware failures and the fact that so little comes as standard with the 360. Whilst i doubt Sony will meet their plan for Summer 2008 when passing the 360 in Europe, i wouldn't be at all surprised to see it happen in October time.

Yeah, PS3 may have sold 797,600 PS3's in December, but that was just in ONE MONTH!!! The 360 sold almost as much as that in one week in November on the week of Black Friday! Those are nothing considering the 360 sold as much as that in one week in November, and in december selling about 500k more units. Sony will never take over 360, even if it outsells in Europe.
