Oh I thought you were talking about the Wii fad losing its effect lol. My bad.Still what you said could happen.

delve deeper my friend....."Famitsu....." follow the links.
They were off by over 20,000 on the PS3 last week.
Media Create
Famitsu
Huh?
Based on that link you gave me....
Media Create PS3 sales for 11/12 - 11/18 = 39,xxx
Famitsu sales (which I assume were transposed into (and used by) the VGChartz website....) PS3 sales for 11/12-11/18 = 47,xxx
I don't see where you're getting off by 20,000 from
Random Sheep Comment: "Nintendo is just limiting the supply of Wii in Japan to make Sony think they're winning"RotaryRX7
Interesting question. I'm pretty sure that the Wii has been consistantly selling out in Japan. If the Wii is sold out, this means nothing.

Famitsu reported 58k when Media Create reported 39k. I think VGchartz decided to average the two numbers from Famitsu and MC, so they got 47k. It's true that Famitsu and MC's PS3 numbers two weeks ago were very different, almost 20k difference.
it was only ever a matter of time before sony really took off, I dont think there is anything stopping the Wii though kids just luv waving there hands around playing games. 360 is going to be in real trouble as it just doesnt have that worldwide appeal, it really only has America at the moment it's going to end up last place by the end of this gen.bigLLL
waving hands around playing games? perhaps I've been playing the wrong games? I don't "wave my hands around".. lol :)

ok, well I don't know why he linked me to VG if they weren't just copying Famtisu's numbers, and labeling it "Famitsu" :?
LOL, at that rate, it will take Sony 10 years...Redgarl
Not really Sony has everything to play for FF13,MGS4,GT5,Residen Evil, and countless of other games to come, where as Niny had it best game just out 4 weeks ago, and Sony outsold the wii for the 3rd week running with no notable big hitter out for it
Brilliant sheep logic.
"Famitsu was 20k higher than Media Create last week, so they SURELY must be off by at least 20k again. Oh, and it would be impossible for their Wii numbers to be off as well."
It's this kind of sterling logic that makes me wonder why we all aren't sheep.

Sony outsold the Wii for one reason only. Limited Supply.
Simply put, there is more demand for the PS3 than there are Wiis available.

And why had the Wii's best game been released 4 weeks ago? There won't be anything better then SMG on Wii ever? That's kinda silly man.
Nintendo probably diverted a lot of wii's from japan to the NA and EUR for the x-mas holiday.
Asia is more into lunar New Years.
Ontain
In Japan, the Lunar New Year isn't even the biggest holiday there, it's the "Cherry Blossom Festival" that occurs around late March or early April.

Brawl?????? and many unknown exclusives like fragile, Sadness, Retro project, Animal Crossing MMO, No More heroes, Namco RPG (I think), MK Wii, -Project Darkness. We know nothing about them all we have heard is promise though.
this is actually bad for PS3 they make a huge price cut and a new version which is usually supposed to make big sales bumps but all I see is 10k more in one week. lol anyone else notice this?Cyber-
YEa, remember when Halo 3 first came out? And all the lemmings are going happy like crazy pointing out the sales numbers? Well, they all missed the fact that the Wii lost by only like 20,000 units! Next month and Wii is back on top! This won't last. Not with out games backing up the momentum and with Wii-Fit coming out next week!

well we have to see. WiiPlay was loved by Casuals, Non gamers, and Hardcores alike. If Wii Fit can do the same then I think it will be good.

No matter what, this won't last. Not without some huge game backing up the momentum.....NExt week is Wi-Fit (which should go well in Japan since its casual city over there), then SSBB and MArio Kart. These three triple whammies should cement Wii 1st place in Japan!

Sadness is vaporware.
They still haven't found a publisher after all this time. That tells you that it's probably not going to happen or not even worth talking about.

I noticed that the Wii is being outsold despite it's biggest game of the year being released (SMG)
You can look at it half full or half empty either way......(for both sides)

It's very strange but SMG isn't selling very well over there for some reason. Maybe they didn't market it well enough or something.

Yeah, I really don't understand it.......it's a good game. They have weird buying habits over there.

It hasnt even been a month and its sold almost 2 million and with very little advertisement......

Selling bad????
also to the guy who quoted me, think about it redesign usually equals big sales jump but it was only able to out sell wii in japan and only by 10 k for one week lol?????
What I find more interesting is that SMG is barely having an effect on Japan, especially for a game of its status. It's surprising.
As for the Wii/PS3 deal, I think Wii will overtake it again but I think 2008 will have a close battle between the systems in Japan. Should be cool.

one week? What does Wii even have to overtake? Worldwide weekly sails was still in wii's favor. So not only was this little bleep only a 10k difference it was isolated to Japan.
Also what part of 2 million in less than amonth do you not understand?

First of all, I wasn't actually responding to you, I was replying to the OP. I would have quoted you if I was responding to you.
Secondly, 2 million is great for the game. What I mean is that I'm suprised at how few Wiis it's moving. I mean, wouldn't everyone here be shocked if PS3 wasn't the #1 selling console when FFXIII was released? I know I would be. That's why I'm surprised with SMG.

it probabaly did push sales 600k in 2 weeks if im not mistaken. also we will see this take affect more in the next few months. As said before Nintendo is bad at advertising so it takes longer.

I think Nintendo is terrific at advertising. SMG's been marketed really well here in Australia and it's definitely going to have a strong effect on the game's sales and the Wii itself.
I have no idea why the game isn't causing a storm in Japan, but it should because everyone seems to adore the game.

it will just at a slower pace. japan is transfering its gaming preferences right now but SMG will still sell well based on the fact that its such an amazing game. Also for how ig of a game SMG is they should have done ALOT more advertising. I think it was really foolish on their part, but in the long run it doesnt really matter SMG will sell hopefully break the m64 sales.
