[QUOTE="tango90101"][QUOTE="FLICKHDDVD"][QUOTE="tango90101"][QUOTE="FLICKHDDVD"] Though the next-gen video format war is not yet over, it is becoming increasingly clear which way the tide of battle is turning. Today, analysts at Home Media Research (via Reuters) reported that Sony's Blu-ray Disc format is now outselling Microsoft-backed HD-DVD at a ratio of nearly 2-to-1. Between January 1 and July 1, a total of 795,000 HD-DVDs were sold, versus 1.6 million BDs. As of the end of July, 2.2 million BDs and 1.5 million HD-DVDs have sold since they both hit the market last year.
Home Media Research cited sales of the popular film 300 to illustrate the differences between the two formats. After being released on home video on July 31, the film has sold 190,000 units on Blu-ray and 97,000 units on HD-DVD. The article also referenced the fact that Blockbuster is supporting Blu-ray exclusively as a factor behind the format's increasing sales momentum.
Curiously, the article did not mention the PlayStation 3, which plays Blu-ray discs without any additional hardware. The Xbox 360 supports HD-DVD playback via a $179 peripheral.

FLICKHDDVD
1. sony is counting the free bundled movies as "sales"
2. the hardware is paramount not the skewed numbers of individual movie "sales".
now, that we have that in order; go back to the topic or politely leave...
thanks...:)
1) That's great, because HD-DVD has been giving away more free bundled movies than Blu-Ray. (Toshiba's 5 free HD-DVD campaign, King Kong with Xbox HD-DVD Drive, 3 free HD-DVD deal at Bestbuy, etc...) So what you are saying is that even with all those free HD-DVDs being given away counting as sales, Blu-Ray software is still outselling HD-DVD software 2:1?
2) Blu-Ray players are outselling HD-DVD players 5:1. :D

more skewed data from the cows... it's all you guys got, so i don't hold it against you.
1. sony has been shipping free movies with each ps3 sold, meaning they gave away faaaar more movies than hd dvd. and you're only talking about ONE retailer...i'm talking the world...
2. the br players included are also the ps3....where there is NO certainty the owner will buy a br movie.. whereas hd dvd players (standalone) are vastly outselling standalone br players...;)
3. the EU is over 70% backingof hd dvd. that's a lot of countries. cuople this with the NA sales of players, it's not looking good for br.
4. let's not forget the porn industry which is backing hd dvd. don't discount the value of this.
now, since i asked you nice and you failed to comply, please LEAVE the thread...
this is NOT about hd dvd vs br....
the educated ALREADY know how this is going to turn out...;)
1) Nope. Sony only did that with the first batch of PS3s in N. America (Talledega Night) and Europe (Casino Royale). Compare that with all HD-DVD addons including King Kong on HD-DVD.
2) Doesn't matter, since software sales show that PS3 owners are using BLu-Ray players for movies, since software is outselling HD-DVD software 2:1.
3) Nope. Blu-Ray is outselling HD-DVD 4:1.

4) Digital Playground releases adult movies exclusively on Blu-ray.

1. the hd dvd addons for the 360 pale in comparison to actual standalone hd dvd players... even with kk being given away that's ONE move to the ps3's TWO movies...
2. the "sales" are including the freebies...
3. i hightly doubt anything coming out of br sites...all propaganda...proven.
4. Vivid Video THE LARGEST AND MOST SUCCESSFUL porn producer is backing hd dvd....good luck...
ok, we've doen the hd dvd thing, now leave the thread... or be reported for trolling... this is NOT about movies..
but about ps3's FAILURE in japan...
