Owning the PS3 is frustrating. Being a PS3 owner since September, I honestly haven't played a game on the machine in months. Not since I beat Uncharted, to be honest. True, I occasionally dust it off to use it as a upscaling DVD player, or even more rarely for it's Blu-Ray functionality, but other than that, I keep thinking of ways to make it useful.

And now here comes GTA4. I considered, I'm almost ashamed to admit, buying this game for the PS3 (I also own an Xbox 360, Wii, etc). Until I realized I was only doing this as an EXCUSE to play my PS3! Why would I get the PS3 version when I could purchase the Xbox 360 version and get 10+ hours of DLC in a few months, achievements, and a controller that already has rumble? Because I, like most PS3 owners (I assume) want an excuse to use my machine. Yikes! This makes me realize just how far behind Sony has been this generation, and the poor business decisions they've made thus far.

Don't get me wrong, I know MGS4 will rule, and eventually my PS3 will be in heavy rotation... but for now, I'm stuck with trying to justify the purchase.... and failing.

There's GOT to be some other PS3 owners out there who feel this way, and are willing to admit it.

June can't come soon enough..

Plus you have access to Great Multipalt titles.

and theres GTA 4 coming this month (if you want that version), not to mention GT5: Proluge.

Honestly, tehres quit a few good stuff. Like I said Ratchet is great, Warhawk is fun, I personal Like Heavenly Sword, but that up to you, Resistence was one of the best Launch titles for a Reason, UT 3 is fun jsut to kill a few hours with, and Like I said, you have a ton of Multiplat games that aare fun to play on a PS3. Not to mention If you have a HDTV, you can always get some Blu-Rays while Your waiting for a Personal Fav. to come out.

Yea you should not have bought the PS3 then. I personally am loving it and online games keeps the console rolling. You ought to try Heavenly Sword amazing story and Ratchet and Clank if you dont have online.

You own all three systems and you are suprised that one gets used less then others. It doesnt take a genius to figure out that the 360/PS3 share the same games so ONE console is gonna be mainly used for JUST exclusives while the other will be used for MULTIPLATS and exclusives.

Now you wanna talk about "excuses", tell me this do you buy all your multiplats on the 360 to JUSTIFY your 50 dollar online subsciption with Live? And dont give me the whole, "360 is superior in multiplats" because thats been proven false, there are some games that are better on the 360 but there are just as many that are just as good or better on the PS3 and you dont have to pay for online.

In the end you were the foolish one. My poor PS3 gets no rest.

I don't regret buying a PS3.... some of the upcoming exclusive games are some of my favorite series in gaming.

Youre like me.. right now Im just playing multiplats on the PS3... however, I already beat some games: Ratchet, Drakes and Heavenly Sword. Those games are amazing, but honestly, theyre rentals at best because theres no incentive to beat it again. COD4 (which im currently playing) is different because of multiplayer.

I also have Lair.. but apparantly there will be a patch this week (atleast for Japan) that allows players to use analog sticks for movement. Ill prob be playing that more once that comes out

im kinda in the same boat TC...but ive been playing alot of PS2 games on it (especially ff10 ad 12) so its getting use on the gaming side. however at the mo the majority of my PS3s time is spent on folding at home.

i will say though that if i didnt have my PC, my PS3 would be getting alot more use. but due to PC getting the better versions of multiplats (and cheaper too) and my own game preferences, my PS3s game collection remains very very small (as does my 360s). hopefully things do improve soon.

the reason i got it was because the 60GB was being phased out of here so i got a good deal for a 60GB model. do i regret it? yea a bit. i think next gen....i wont get every platform so quickly. ill get a couple towards the start and then wait till closer to the end for the other 2 so i can just get them and get a crap load of games to go with em (and save a bundle too).

Just a tip if you own a game console you still have to buy games to have fun with it.

Here are the games I've bought since you bought your PS3: Warhawk, R6 Vegas, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Unreal Tournament, Rockband, DirT, NFS: ProStreet, Half Life 2: Orange Box (good bang for your buck), Eye of Judgement, COD4. And Target had a sale this weekend these were all $10 ea.. Street Basketball, MLB 07 the Show, Tony Hawk and Def Jam Icon.

That's just a few that I've bought, There are still more that I actually want... GT5, Burnout, Hot Shots Golf, for example.

I can see how PS3 only owners are quite content,

There are eight games that GS has ranked 9.0 or higher on PS3, as well as 35 ranked 8.0 to 8.9.

But the problem I have is that as a PS3 launch owner, who has had a 360 and a Wii since launch, the pickings have been very slim in terms of gaming. Resistence was pretty good right off the bat, but the lack of games moving forward was frustrating to say the least.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma was a remake, but a quality remake none the less that came seven months after launch.

Since then Warhawk has replaced RFoM as my go to game for the PS3, and while Heavenly Sword, R&C3 and Uncharted were all very solid gaming experiences, they were experiences that laid end to end took me a hair under 23 hours to complete.

Lair and Folklore which were games that did not recieve a stellar review from most places ended up getting more playtime for me to complete then the big three of Heavenly Sword, R&C3 and Uncharted, not because they were better but because they were longer, although all five of those games do share something in common, the fact that I have not played them since I finished them.

2006 was weak for the PS3, I don't think many people will dispute that fact, 2007 was pretty good if you bought all the strong multiplatform games for PS3, four of them came out in a big bunch in Nov/Dec which was annoying to say the least.

I didn't opt for COD4 or Orange Box for the PS3 because I like Live better, not to say I dislike PSN but given the option I will always pick the online multiplayer I can play on the online network I like better, and I have more friends on (Unless there is an advantage to go the otherway)

My frustration spans from the fact that I bought a PS3 at launch, hoping for even 1/4 of the amazing exclusive games I couldn't get anywhere else that I did on the PS2 and nearly a year and a half later the selection is not as impressive as I would have hoped, coupled with the fact that we have seen price drops, new controllers, and the like in that period of time.

I have sunk 200 hours into Warhawk, I love it but given how long the gaps between games are, and when those games come the length of the games I would have been better off waiting for to just buy it the day before MGS and even then, I have concerns about what would come next.

I am not sure why anyone needs to justify 49.99 for 13 months of online play, we are talking about $3.85 a month, so I think the people spending 69.99 on a new release solely to justify spending 2 dollars less a month then I spent on this mornings Grande Vanilla Latte may exist only in the minds of System Wars posters.

Its not even about minor graphical advantages that the PS3 version may have, or the 360 version may have when it comes to a multiplatform game, because honestly playing COD4 on both PS3 and 360 on the same TV in HD I am hardpressed to tell during my standard gameplay, and I don't have the time to pause it at the same location to count the amount of cracks on a wall to determine which one renders better.

I buy the 360 version of Multiplatforms because I like Live Better,

I use the cross game chat feature nearly everytime I am online, I use the cross game invite feature at least five or six times a week, and I like being able to see which friends are online, which game they are playing and being able to swap discs and join one of their games.

As I said earlier, I have no problem with PSN but considering I have the option and I have both I will opt for the one with more features that I use,

And not because its costing me a Big Mac every month,

Try these games out: Ratchet, warhawk, heavenly sword, ninja gaiden, call of duty 4 , assassins creed, guitar hero, resistance, orange box(mainly for portal). Even play some old ps2 games if you want to since they are going pretty cheap now.

If you say no to these selection of games, Why on earth did you purchase the PS3??! YOu should have waited for an other year till more games are out.

to be fair the same could be said for some 360 owners. It depends on which you prefer, If you don't like the thing, then sell it, and buy more 360 games.... thats business, understand?

My friend I feel the same as you. I before this gen was a diehard Playstation fan and eagerly anticipated the PS3 launch. While waiting my fiance purchased a 360 for my birthday and I have been a fan since. PS3 came out and I had no reason to own one, but as the prices kept dropping that little fanboy inside cried for one and so this past Christmas my fiance bought me one. As I got to know the console I realized there was NOTHING it offered over the 360. Preinstallations are a pain and a joke. PSN is poor imitation of a true online community and the games that WERE exclusive were nothing more than 6 hour graphic whore presentations. I realized this console is not for me. I still want to play MGS 4 being the MGS fan I am, but ANY multiplat game will ALWAYS be bought for 360. Simply because of the achievements, no preinstalling and the connection I have with my swelling friends list so we can all get our games day one and chat otgether while sharing tips on how to play or play together.

You are not alone. There's lots of people out there with all systems and they realize that their PS3 gets less attention than the others. All I know people who own all the systems will not touch their PS3s until Haze or MGS4 comes out or when a new blu ray movie comes out. We'll all be too busy playing GTA IV on our 360s, and when I say we I'm talking about the people with more than two systems.

I wouldn't voice my displeasure that strongly, but I can hear where you are coming from. As a multiplatform owner the PS3 gets less use than my 360, but if you look hard enough there are some good games available.

Well some bought it just for a blu ray player and some have no choice then to just wait for these killer apps. I was the few that bought it at launch hoping for the goods to be there from launch, but I got self-owned because I had to wait and still waiting for the killer apps, the reason I bought it for, games like MGS4, still waiting.

It isn't self ownage. It's insurance to play ALL of the best games when they become available instead of bashing a system because you HAD to make a choice. And quite possibly an open minded decision, thinking maybe there will be something you didn't expect you'd like turning out to be better han you thought.

Tough gen for multiplat owners, in many cases SW has come down to the people that own more than one system talking about the frustrations they experence as PS3 or 360 owner and the guys that only own PS3's or 360's reporting them for trolling.

The definition of trolling used to be a post that was solely intended to annoy, the new definition this gen is a post that solely intends to be an honest opinion.

ReverseCycology

Yeah. It makes me wonder how smart of a purchased was it for them to buy one, now? It's self-ownage you asked me.

If people bought it just for a blu-ray player, then why they complaining about games? :|

achievements ruined gaming. they're for morbidly obese children who desire some sense of victory in their lives.GUNpoint_

Yea, achievements suck if you think about it. They are incredibly lame.

It isn't self ownage. It's insurance to play ALL of the best games when they become available instead of bashing a system because you HAD to make a choice. And quite possibly an open minded decision, thinking maybe there will be something you didn't expect you'd like turning out to be better han you thought.

I'm talking about people who complains. If you bought it knowing that the games will come, fine. But, to complain about it now? You've should've waited. Dumb move on their part.

Why would I buy a Multiplatform game for anything but the Xbox 360 right now? I won't have to invest another $60 for a rumble-capable controller, I get, at the very least, as good of a port, if not the very best out there, and I can easily, seamlessly play with all my friends on XBL.

Fanboys and morons respond to me saying "it was your bad to buy the system then!!". No, idiots. It's Sony's bad for not creating compelling reasons to play and use their console more than my others. End of story.

I had exactly the same problem with the Wii, I'm not particularly into Nintendo games anymore, but I gave the Wii a try because I thought it would be fun.I was giving it the benefit of the doubt and got burned, imo. That would make someone complain. Just like the many Sony fanboys that have been complaining about the 360 since launch. I guess they self owned themselves too?

Honestly, tehres quit a few good stuff. Like I said Ratchet is great, Warhawk is fun, I personal Like Heavenly Sword, but that up to you, Resistence was one of the best Launch titles for a Reason, UT 3 is fun jsut to kill a few hours with, and Like I said, you have a ton of Multiplat games that aare fun to play on a PS3. Not to mention If you have a HDTV, you can always get some Blu-Rays while Your waiting for a Personal Fav. to come out. black_awpN1

To the TC, I feel the exact same way, I havent turned mine on in months. I also own a wii60 so I have been playing games. To the person ^^^^^^^^^^^ I have bought and beaten every game you listed. I got board of warhawk and ut3 traded them both in. Multiplait games I like better on the 360. The ps3 is fine for someone who that all they own but having a 360 as well it is only my bluray player ATM.

agree with tc. problem is I always try to justify the PS3 version and it never works. My 360 produces cleaner graphics (my tv must have a better vga than hdmi i guess) and My Ps3 is a movie player mostly. But with GT5 coming thurs. I will get at least the best racing game out soon enough. I bought the PS3 for GT5 and KZ2. hope at least those are good.

Whatever, sure defend the obvious of them making a bad decision. This is a hobby, no remorse for people who complain about a console purchase. There are only bad games, not bad console.

Your wrong there buddy, I get all my multiplait games on the 360 because I like live better and if Im playing then same game I would rather have the acheivements than not. I dont need to justify 50.00 a year because frankly thats not alot of money to me. Thats beer and lotto for the week...

U obviously picked the wrong system for u then, I mean if I bought a ps3 for one title, that would be just a waste of money. There are obviously more good games on the ps3 but I guess u bought it for one game which is kind of a bad move on your part. Dont blame the ps3, blame yourself for buying it for one title and not thinking it over about what games u want to get for that system. Me personally enjoy my ps3 and all the features it has to offer, aswell as my xbox 360 and wii but u never see me coming on here making a thread saying I hate 1 one of my consoles. I own all 3 aswell and im proud to be playing all the best games out of each console. Only games I dont play are pc games and that is because to me I have alwayz been a console freak so I think 3 is enough gaming to last me this next gen.

Hmm can't say I agree or disagree with the TC. Seems that for most multiplat games, it would be a better investment to me to get the 360 version for my tastes in what they offer. And yeah, the PS3 lineup does seem kind of bare when you own both that and a 360. But at the same time, I've had plenty of fun with the system with the few games I do have for it. Personally, I think Sony should've had Home, in-game XMB & the Dualshock 3 available from the start. When are we going to get Home and the in-game XMB? Mid 08, Late 08, 09, 2010? Halfway into the PS3 lifecycle? Come on Sony, this should've been something on PSN six months after the PS3 hit the stores.

Resistence? WarHawk? Ratchet?

Plus you have access to Great Multipalt titles.

and theres GTA 4 coming this month (if you want that version), not to mention GT5: Proluge.

black_awpN1

You didn't read the dude's post did you?
